🌠World Mental Health Day – Scam or Not?

Today is World Mental Health Day. What does that make you think of?

You know, I used to think that ‘mental health’ concerns only applied to folks in institutions.

The husband (years ago) normalized the concept that no, mental health is just that – your mind feeling healthy and you being able to exist in a positive format.

So, things like depression, anxiety, feeling the inability to get out of bed because life would then continue, etc.etc.etc…..

It’s all part of mental health.

Talking about mental health should not be shamed. And admitting to anxiety/depression/everything that simply prevents you from being the *you* you truly are… there be *zero* wrong with that.

Keep in mind – the fact we’ve now been in a pandemic for around 5487 years can do in the best of us. Heck, it HAS done in the best of us! And I’d guarantee that even with virtually 100% of the strongest peoples…. when nobody is around to visually see them, they’ll let the tears flow (inside or out), they’ll rail at the heavens… and then pick themselves up the next day and continue the adventure.

Thing is, though, even if strong/weak people never speak of it, the trauma that caused the tears is still within them (until they learn to process it and let it *go*. Still mastering that meself – my gosh, its SO hard sometimes to handle the part of reality you cannot control (other people, balanced brain chemicals, low-flying asteroids that destroyed your residence, etc.etc.etc.).

And when fears strike etc.etc.etc., the issues that smoosh *your* mental health can cause you to lash out at people who love you the most.

Ideally, do NOT do this.

Lash out at everyone else… but *not* the folks who really, truly and honestly love you (despite you feeling you are unworthy of it).

I was guilty of that meself yesterday. Actually, we both were.

And that was just… really not wise.

I broke one of my own cardinal rules – always remember the bonds one has. If one is acting like a tweeblehead, it’s NOT because of malice or revenge or whatever else your mind might conjure up…

It’s (most likely) because the other person’s mental health is going in the negative direction (if putting this in a mental perspective doesn’t make sense, think physical: kinda like if you get a fever and your body temp rises and your body itself feels like it wants to go back to sleep and never get up), remind yourself:

Chances are, those reactions were *not* about you, but instead, reflected whatever emotional trauma/worries/issues/panicking about low-flying asteroids in the future/etc. the other person was experiencing.

But I digress.

World mental health day!

To those who are struggling, remember…

You are NOT alone.

And to those who are reading this and thinking, weak weak weak!…

I forgive you.

I used to think the same way, 20+ years ago.

It took going thru challenges meself to open me eyes.

Your takeaway? Be gentle with all. Everyone has issues they will never reveal in public. Do not compare yourself with the ‘successful’ folks you see online – lots of times, those are simply highlight reels of their lives.

And take care of yourself gently. You’ve got this!

Enjoy.
