The secret about citizen activist Erin Ely can be summed up in the following one word:
Brilliant Planning!
Okay, true, that’s 2 words. But the point still remains!
I just heard about Erin when she tweeted her current idea goal in which she is a finalist!
Today is the last day you can vote, so I wanted to spotlight her achievements. What I particularly like about Erin’s approach is that she’s not only promoting it at IdeaBlog, but it appears she’s also printed out flyers and is doing her best to get the proposal known by as many people as possible. To wit:
…There is already a lot of support for this project in my community. People have been discussing it for years. I am working closely with the Lane County Farmers Market and the Willamette Farm and Food Coalition
Now is the time to move the project forward starting with facilitated meetings with all stakeholders, a feasibility study and business plan to make the plan a reality. Then fundraising to create the facility. My idea is based on the Santa Fe Farmers Market….I know there is enough support to bring this idea forward in our community, we just need to get it started …MORE….
Other people have written about her project as well (and Erin has proactively alerted niche groups to the cause as well):
- Relocalize Lane County Food Supply: Year round farmers market
- Calling all Bioneers: Last day (almost) to vote for "Year-round Farmers Market for Lane County"
- Please vote for Year-round home for Lane County Farmers Market on ideablob.com
- Eugene Permaculture Guild
It’s been on the news:
Remember…Erin’s secret is she gets out and makes things happen! She doesn’t wait for a 16 ton anvil of gold to drop on her head – she proactively alerts interested parties, gets in the news and more.
I’m really impressed! Why not visit vote for her idea today? Anyone who puts in such a super amount of effort deserves to be considered.
Enjoy,
Barbara
