Building authority sites and maintaining niche blogs is an effective way of making money online. You know that, I know that, smart people know that…you get the idea.
Thing is, though….let’s say that all of sudden, after you’ve built up a tremendous presence in Google SERPs…..the unthinkable happens and your site gets toasted by that gentle giant. Whoosh! All page references to your affiliate links are vaporized! How will you rebound?
Well, having experienced this myself back a few years ago, I can tell you one easy way….
Always make certain to have an optin ezine/newsletter on your site. I don’t care if you’re running a proper blog or if you’re building portal sites or …. you want to have an optin ezine. Period.
Why?
Because should disaster loom and your pages go bye-bye, you still have that wondrous list from which you can rebuild your base once again.
There are many goodies you can put in the initial message for an optin ezine. You can dash up a quick “here’s how to find (humor or job or discounts or ….) resources in NICHE” (substitute your niche field, of course).
You can write up a quick niche PDF file that has your affiliate link embedded for specific products and savings. For example, let’s say that your niche is the iTouch. You can use your eBay affiliate link and provide direct access to all the new iTouch offerings available like so
or showcase what Amazon.com has to offer:
I personally use the aWeber Autoresponder for my optin ezines. I will make certain to include a thank you in the followup message, plus a suggestion that my email address is whitelisted (you have no idea how many emails get sent to the Holding Pen if they’re not officially sanctioned!). This helps set the helpful tone for any following newsletters I might distribute.
Thus, remember…you’re leaving money on the table if you don’t proactively provide an optin ezine. It’s a simple thing to do….so treat yourself right and pick up the money you’ve been neglecting all along.
Enjoy,
Barbara
