How Can You Take Advantage of Email In Your Marketing?
- A:
Incorporate Permission Based And Optin Ideas
What
Is Email Marketing?
Now
that you have a Star Wars business idea...how to you effective take advantage
of email marketing to increase your profits while not resorting to spam?
'Tis
a good question! Luckily, you'll learn lots of info here as I've been successfully
doing this now since, wow, 1997.
The
key to successful email marketing is permission-based. In other
words, you want to compel your website visitors to happily give to you
their email address so you now have a reason to contact them in the future.
There
are lots of ways to do this. You can offer a Star
Wars ezine by autoresponder. You can create a free resource center
on a completely different site like Recruiter
Marketing (one of my official businesses) and then have your Store
page point you towards your actual products on a different site.
Couple
of things to remeber. One...never ever ever buy an optin list of email
addresses to target!! You have no idea from where those emails were
mined....chances are they didn't give their permission to be gathered and
if you send email to them, you'll be reported to your ISP faster than a
bomb explodes.
Instead,
when you follow up with your autoresponders or ezines, you should provide
some compelling instant gratification resources your visitors can check
out and immediately benefit from. For example, I built Recruiter
Marketing.com so I have a high-valued free resource to virally market
(recruiters tend to forward that site to their peers without further action
on my part).
What
kind of resource center can you build on your site? Think about what interests
your customers the most, and then go to Google
and search for resources that demystify it. For example, perhaps your Star
Wars site centers upon Padmé Amidala.
Searching
on
might
lead you to sites like:
Padmé
Amidala is played by Natalie Portman. Searching on her name might reveal:
Thus,
adding those links to your own site will give visitors additional reasons
to visit. You can also look for Star
Wars News Headlines and incorporate those as well!
The
key is to build a site people want to visit. The more they know about you,
the more trust is generated. And people tend to buy more from others whom
they trust.

Another
way to take advantage of emails is to always use your signature ability.
A signature is simply a way to tack on a few lines about your business
(perhaps your website, perhaps your URL, perhaps a tag line, etc.). Creating
a .signature is very easy to do - check out the site CoolSig
for a collection of famous signatures and also the steps
to create your very own.
There
are many resources you can take advantage of to help with your email marketing.
One such program is Mailloop
- it automates an incredible amount of tasks. If you're generating leads
online (or plan to), you can use personalized follow-up messages – or newsletters
– to sell products like crazy. And because e-mail is free, every new sale
brings you guaranteed profits. If you have a list of leads or customers
now, you will probably be shocked by all of the additional money you can
make doing simple follow-up mailings (via e-mail) to the leads and customers
you already have. [ more...
