To
sell on eBay, you need an eBay ID!
When
you sell an item on eBay, it will be called the "seller's ID"
- if you buy, it becomes the "buyer's ID". Think of it like an
AOL login or a MSN messenger ID or a ICQ nickname or a …. It's simply a
handle for you to identify yourself on eBay.
You
must provide three thingees. They are:
- Your
information - Name, address, phone Your email address - This is so you
can receive notifications of when you sell an item or are the successful
bidder of one.
- Your
eBay ID - This is your own personal nickname that you yourself choose.
Want a special tip for deciding what it is? Try to make it something either
descriptive about:
- What
you want to sell such as jesscomputers, amydesign, or markcars
- Your
geographic area such as bobtexas, rickcentralnj, or bethorem
- Your
specialization such as momof4, dadoftwins, or gurumarketer
If
your ID is already taken, you can simply append numbers after it such as
subltetouch18 or mathmaster47.
In
addition, eBay states on their site that IDs:
- May
contain letters (a-z), numbers (0-9) and/or many symbols.
- Must
be at least (2) characters long.
- Are
case sensitive.
- Can't
contain spaces.
- Can't
be obscene, profane or hateful.
And
IDs can't contain:
- The
"@" symbol.
- The
"&" (ampersand) symbol.
- The
letter "e" followed by numbers.
- URLs
(for example xyz.com).
- The
word, "eBay."
Only
eBay employees may use "eBay" in their User IDs. This is to prevent
non-employees from posing as employees.
What
