🌠So! About Those PLR Niche Site Builder Executables…

So there I was.

Deciding upon the art of particular bonus giving.

And I decided to check out one of my fav monthly PLR sites and see what were the latest requests by Gold members.

Well, one of said request was for a Mobile SomethingOrOther Niche site builder.

Now, over the past 10 years I’ve been a member, I never *did* check out such thingees…

So I decided that this time I would be bold!

I would be different!

I would download the zip file and see just what was included!

And I’d relay the above points with lots of exclamation marks!

But I digress. 😃

Anywhos, I downloaded it, I unzipped it, and I noticed that instead of, say, a gloriously wonderful php script, the site itself included an executable.

Now, I hate executables on Windows machines. Heck, I hate Windows machines! But alas, the husband likes Windows machines, and as he’s the backup person in our family, I bravely try to survive on such a beast (the computer, not the husband).

However, it occurred to me that there should be a way to test out an executable online. Looked about for such a thingee and discovered:

www.virustotal.com/gui/home/upload

Uploaded that cute little executable I did, and after the analysis was completed…

Eeeeek! was my main reaction.

You can see the analysis over at

www.virustotal.com/gui/file/a84e46092e31db82956e2bdbedd5f24f9fc7f078f60a25c8a260a8b219ab5043/detection

Some things uncovered were:

🌩 3 security vendors and no sandboxes flagged this file as malicious

and

🌩 W32.AIDetect.malware2

and

🌩 Malicious.high.ml.score

and when you search up:

🌩 W32.AIDetect.malware2

You could discover:

“…This means W32.AIDetect.malware2 can work in complete stealth for an indefinite period of time or until it causes some major system damage or until it completes whatever it’s task might have been.

What is more, W32.AIDetect.malware2 (or viruses like Altruistics, Energy.exe) like most Trojan-based infections may mimic legitimate system processes that are already running and, in this way, avoids being detected.

Once inside the system, such a threat can be used for a long list of malicious activities. The hackers behind it can use the Trojan to weaken the security of your system and to secretly infect the computer with other malware such as ransomware or spyware.

They may also use the infection to steal sensitive information such as passwords, login credentials and banking details, which can later be used for theft, fraud, blackmailing, different scams and more.

W32.AIDetect.malware2 may also provide its creators with remote access and allow them to exploit the system’s resources for their criminal activities.

Typically, during the time it operates, it is almost impossible to notice the presence of the Trojan in the system.

Yet, sometimes, you may notice that your computer is running slower than usual, programs take longer to open when you try to run them, some parts of legitimate web pages are unavailable and your CPU and RAM usage is higher than usual without any apparent reason….”

Notice that:

They may also use the infection to steal sensitive information such as passwords, login credentials and banking details, which can later be used for theft, fraud, blackmailing, different scams and more.

?

Can we all say ‘keylogger’, boys and girls?

I thought so. Sad

Your takeaway?

ALWAYS check any executables you choose to run on your computer or your server….

It might save bunches of your sanity in the far-flung future.

Enjoy!
