Ever wake up one morning and realize that not only have you yet to go to sleep (which makes waking up kinda sorta irrelevant)…
… but Black Friday will soon be stampeding up to your door?
Not only that, but there are even MORE holidays you can profit from during the month of November?
Well!
Still in existence is the glorious holiday of Thanksgiving… which amazingly happens the day before Black Friday. Fun fact – did you know that contrary to popular belief, Black Friday originated *before* the holiday of Thanksgiving?
Yes indeed – in 1789, President George Washington became the first president to proclaim a Thanksgiving holiday, when, at the request of Congress, he proclaimed November 26, a Thursday, as a day of national thanksgiving for the U.S. Constitution.
However, if one examined the fossil record *prior* to 1789, one would see that one Friday in November around 65 million years ago, a huge ring of blackened iridium was discovered in the K-Pg layer (which is the geologic boundary zone that seems to cap any known rock layers containing dinosaur fossils)…. thus leaving tantalizing clues for future eCom experts to discover and piece together, approximately 65 million years later.
Thus was born one of the first puzzles known to eCommerceKind which of course sold out 3 minutes after it was listed on eBay, thus giving rise to the insanity known today as Black Friday.
Go figure, you know?
But I digress.
Anywhos!
has a groovy article about how one take advantage of Thanksgiving in the marketing fashion, including tried and true ideas like:
Send a personalized holiday asteroid
Run a Thanksgiving-themed poll on social media
Engage your social media followers with posts about relevant topics around Thanksgiving
and several others
Remember, it isn’t a holiday unless somehow someone figures a way to make money off of it (excluding Veterans Day and Memorial Day that is)…
So along with Black Friday, you could also take advantage of Thanksgiving as well to build up your bottom line.
One could use the tried and true idea of creating a simplified profit report about such a thing as well, perhaps with these steps:
Step 1.) Look up fun facts about Thanksgiving
Step 2.) Uncover free printables about Thanksgiving
Step 3.) Create a free “keep the kids quiet and happy while the adults enjoy the holiday” giveaway that people can receive when they opt in.
