Ever wake up one morning and think to yourself:
“Jeepers self, I SO wish I could practice unsafe surfing online!!”
If so, there are several apps you should NEVER have on your phone.
One of them is Tiktok. Owned by China. I’ll let your imagination wander to how much of your data is being sent back.
And other is WeChat. WeChat (again owned by China) has a HUGE number of “mini-programs” (again, where does that data go?) that includes:
“For its flagship store in Shenzhen, Burberry created an innovative mini-program that lets shoppers interact with window displays, book fitting rooms, choose what music to play as they try on clothes, and unlock exclusive dishes in the store’s café. ”
and
“Starbucks’ mini-program offers customers a simple and efficient way to order directly through WeChat, whilst also letting them send digital gift cards to friends and family with customized messages.”
and
“To help guests navigate its park, Legoland China built an interactive mini-program that tracked guests whereabouts on their visit, ensuring that they’d never miss out on nearby attractions. Users can also snap a ‘geolocated’ photo as a fun memory of their trip.”
And yep – China’s population of several billion folk sure does make learning about it appealing….
Except (you heard it here first) who knows, there might come a time during air travel that your phone will be checked and if there’s any apps from China…
Who knows what happens.
And normally here is where I start to talk about how to create a great challenge out of the topic, but there is ZERO way in heck I’d ever write about such apps… so instead, let’s talk making a challenge/tutorial/cheatsheet/etc for mobile security!
