Do you need to exercise and/or increase your body flexibility?
Do you find yourself anchored instead to a computer….and before you know it, realize that the entire day has gone by without you moving from your chair except for the odd bathroom break or two?
Well, welcome to my reality! But recently, I came across a nifty free thingee that reminds me every 15 minutes to get up and move.
It's the free Yahoo Grandfather Clock widget!
This particular widget will chime every 15 minutes….and you know the benefit to that?
Well, it's very simple. Every 15 minutes, you can stand up from the computer and do….something….ANYTHING….for one minute.
That's it. Only one minute. And then boom, you're done, and can return back to your work.
The benefits to this is you're moving your body and giving yourself a much-needed break from the usual rigid stance you attain when you sit motionless. But even more so, I've found out….those minutes build up!
Now, I'm NOT simply talking weight loss (which can't be achieved via pure exercise anywhos in a long-term view; that requires an entire lifestyle change). Instead, I'm talking that you can TEACH your body to become comfortable with flexibility moves…that will then improve your walking and overall physical well-being.
I should know – I have a lousy bone structure that simply wants to dissolve at the most inopportune times. At the same time, I'll be earning my Black Belt in karate this Saturday…and the Martial Arts, especially, benefit from a body that can, well, move smoothly.
So I now have been using technique to get comfortable with moves normal people can do with ease….but which baffle the hell out of me.
So if you NEED to get up and move, but like me, lack the mental discipline to actually carve out time to do so, download the Yahoo Grandfather Clock – you'll find it a lifesaver indeed.
Enjoy,
Barbara Ling
