Giving yourself permission to crash and burn

I be sick!Morning all,

Today…I have officially embraced the prone position.

Okay, well, not really….but apparently the sickness my children had last week decided I was worthy enough to invade my body last night.  And when I say "invade", I’m not talking about the delightful Schoolhouse Rock version of Mr. White Blood cell defending his home turn; instead, I’m more along the lines of "Homocidal Maniac Aliens Denied Coffee – The Untold Horror!

In other words, I was knocked down for the count, if you consider lying in bed watching your nose imitate the NYC Marathon to be "down."  Got up at 1am this morning and stayed up until 11am or so…just re-awoke again.

The good news is that while doing my best impression of The Incredible Zombie Mom at 1:30am, I accomplished some truly nifty work (added to my customer care autoresponder for the Dark Side of Making Money Online, got the affiliate template sketched out, wrote FINALLY! Probe launched into Acai Berry scam diet products, invested in a superb Clickbank product, and other goodies as well.  Man, I rocked even when half-conscious!

But not only that – I also gave myself permission to indulge in deep dark luscious sin, and forgo both my healthy eating lifestyle and my usual exercise.  I dosed myself with butterscotch baking chips (the ultimate comfort food!) and decided to foget about stumbling/commenting and all that jazz.

And the results?

I just awakened about half an hour ago and feel a slight shade better than the living dead….not enough to return to the land of the living, however.  So methinks today I’ll just be plain OFF as a mom and give myself permission to heal.

Which brings me to the point of this article!!

While it’s always tempting to be bold, dramatic, dashing and always give 110% of yourself no matter what, sometimes you simply HAVE to listen to your body.

Think about it.  When your spouse or kids or loved ones are ill, don’t you drop everything to ensure they feel better as soon as possible?  Hmmmm?

Why don’t you give yourself that gift as well?

I’m very lucky myself.  All of my kids wanted to take care of me at home; one of them practically velcroed herself to me and didn’t want to go to school (Mom, I could make you soup!).  And my wonderful husband actually walked the two moosies by himself so I didn’t have to regain consciousness after the kids went to school.

Family – they rock!

Anywhos, back to you.  When you DO run yourself into a steaming heap (and don’t deny it – unless you’re Yoda, I’ll bet you have that tendency every now and then too), you really shortchange not only your family, but your business, your friends and your health as well.  It’s just not worth it!

And if you’d like some ways to pamper yourself, check out:

So when you feel like stopping the world and wanting to get off because your health is swimming somewhere near the Titanic….listen to your body.  And then go heal thyself.  Your family will thank you for it.

Back to bed,
