Have you heard about Google Authority and Google Authorship?
Google these days is giving priority to the sites that simply showcase what I call “Pull Marketing.”
Want to be perceived as an expert online? Create compelling content that entices consumers to *proactively* search you out and share your content online. THEY don’t have to go out to attract visitors – visitors proactively come to *them*.
I promised you it was simple!
I wrote about Google Authorship over at
At the very least, Google wants to deliver to its customers sites within its search engine results that are:
- Relevant (the content show on the site matches the keywords that are used)
- Socially Shared (visitors share articles on GooglePlus, Facebook and other social properties)
- User Experience (your site meets the visitor’s expectations)
- Regularly/Freshly Updated (showing you stay on the cutting edge of news).
There are plenty of how-to articles about becoming viewed as an authority site by Google including:

One of the key aspects of authority these days is to tie your Google Plus profile (after all, it’s who you *say* you are) to your content online (This creates your Google Authorship). Wordpress makes this quite simple via free plugins like:
Again,
walks you through exactly how to achieve this.
Make no mistake about it – more and more, Google is rewarding the high-quality-content, continously socially shared sites with better search engine visibility. It’s the smart marketer who will factor that into their future content creation and promotions.
Grow strong,
Barbara Ling
