You know, if I read one more dinky story about keyword research targeted to newbies in making money online, I’m going to break my coffee cup into hundreds of shiny little shards.
Okay, that’s a lie – that’s akin to shunning oxygen. But the point still remains.
Keyword research is great and wondrous and oh-so yippee-like IF and only IF…
You know what the heck to DO with all the keywords you find.
Think about it. Let’s say that you discover that yellow-bellied doomies are the most popular keywords imaginable online…and that if you could corner the market on Yellow Bellied Doomies, you’d be monetizing your pages until the cows strolled home.
With me so far?
Alrighty then…but now, ask yourself. With the current trends of becoming popular online today, you have to continuously produce sterling, exciting content about your niche, day in, day out.
And if you’re NOT passionate about Yellow-bellied Doomies, chances are….after a few days or weeks of writing about them, you’ll find yourself preferring to dismantle a Cadillac with tweezers instead.
The plain fact is, for MOST people…..the only way you’ll stay long-term with a project is if you’re passionately enthusiastic about it.
That’s the key, you know…passion.
And it truly frosts my petunias that tons of Internet marketing gurus will tell newbies that Keyword! Research! Is! All!
Because!

- IS
- NOT!
It’s no longer NOT enough to rank high in search engine results for specific keywords!
You have to become an authority site as well.
That’s really where the money starts to become more feasible…when your site becomes a destination for customers in your niche.
And that will NOT happen MERELY by keyword research. Not by a long shot.
It will, however, occur when you take the time to become an AUTHORITY in your niche…IDEALLY a niche that contains your chosen keyword.
So…the next time you consider "keyword research" if you’re new to making money online, don’t let the stars dance in your eyes. Instead, focus FIRST upon building your brand WITHIN your niche as the VERY best site one can visit….and THEN you’ll start to see the possibilities unfold.
And you can take THAT to the bank.
