I am 43 years old. I still think I’m a teenager. Well, not really. But I am often surprised at how old I have gotten [read: slow] because in my *mind* I’m young and swift and flexible.
I happen to know the two young ladies in this video:
and I bet that the one throwing the punches would be way more prepared to meet a thug in a dark alley than I.
* She could run faster than I.
* She can punch faster than I.
* She can do a whole heck of a lot more than I (I’ve seen a few things…)
Yes, there is the element of surprise and there is adrenaline — both will effect one’s reactions in a time of high stress.
The reality check comes to me when I start to think about myself and how I perceive my actions and abilities.
You see, often I catch myself saying: yes! I can do that! (Just like I would say: Sure I could bop a creep in the nose if need be!)
And I see this video and I *know* this: she does 250 pushups daily. She does Krav multiple times a week, weekly. She is diligent to *go through the motions*. And to be honest, if one were to put her against me and say: “Who would be more likely to emerge victorious from a dark-alley-encounter?”, we’ld all have to agree that I look pretty old indeed.
So: to my business
==> a reality check <==
Do I put in the daily exercise I need to grow my business muscles?
* Am I dedicated to show up and do the dirty deeds every day, especially when I “don’t feel like it”?
And with that thought, I’m off of FB ’cause I have some exercises I need to catch up on… slacking ain’t never helped no one in a dark alley nor in the crunch of growing your business.
What do you need to do daily that you’ve allowed to drop off your task list?
