I write this more than a month ago…
But its still rather crucial indeed.
It was a Stark and Gloomy Gnight.
And there I was, happily going thru online thingees after a great dinner with the husband (sidenote – said it before and will say it again, the husband is the wisest person I have ever met. While we might not agree on some things (husband ==> VulcanTraits, me ==> BetazoidTraits), it doesn’t change the fact the man could give Yoda a run for his acumen. Will probably write more about that convo later).
But I, as always, digress.
Anywhos! Visiting the page (yay clickbait!), yep indeed, there was the entire headline in all its glory:
www.businessinsider.com/twitter-staff-locked-out-of-twitter-during-musk-takeover-report-2022-11
“Elon Musk’s takeover was so poorly planned the company got locked out of its own Twitter account, report says”
Now, anything that reads “report *says*” as opposed to, “here are the reasons why we feel this is newsworthy even though we have zero proof of the claim” is something that frosts my petunias bigtime.
In essence, sources claim that the official Twitter account was locked out of the platform…. that they own.
Think about that now for a second.
The official company login for the official company platform that the official company owns was somehow rendered inoperable, sources (who neither work at the official company nor are identified) say.
Hmmm.
Let’s say a bad actor actually *did* decide to change the official passwd to some bizarre thingee that nobody could guess.
I’d be reeeeeeeeeally surprised if Twitter didn’t have an “Undo Idjut Action” tool/software available.
But let’s say they do not. I’d be reaaaaaaaaaaaaally surprised if Twitter didn’t have (wait for it) backups of their database schema.
Right?
But if you read the article, the main point of contention is:
“Twitter *staff* were locked out of the company’s own social account for 12 days, according to Platformer.” (Platformer is a newsletter run by a former editor of TheVerge).
Well, given the extreme hostility Elon has been dealing with, would it be rather rash OR wise for him to allow anyone *except* himself to provide Twitter updates?
And this is the Business Insider?
Ah, for the days that media outlets simply wrote the facts and allowed readers to make their own conclusions.
Days that are about as ancient as Velociraptors checking in on the local weather forecast and reading, Cloudy with a chance of Asteroids.
Your takeaway?
*Everything* these days is written with the intent on manipulating your feelings in the direction the writers desire.
Okay true, it’s *always* been that way, I suppose…. but at least folks were a weeee bit more subtle.
Always apply your own reasoning to whatever it is that you read.
And if you’d like a resource that presents ALL sides of new coverage, so much so that the same article look profoundly different, consider:
www.allsides.com/unbiased-balanced-news
Utterly fascinating goodness there.
Enjoy!
