Shame on YOU!

(And other creative ways to smoosh yourself down)

What’s your talk on ‘shameless self promotion’ and letting the world know how great you are?

I’ll never forget the first marketing event I attended, the Warrior Event in May 2012 (wrote Pinning for Manly Men while in the airport, I remember). Met lots of people whom I had only heard of until that time – Judy KettenhofenBen AdkinsDennis BeckerBrad SpencerGail Richardson, etc.etc.etc. Very memorable time!

Regarding the talks, 3 of them stood out to me. Charles Kirkland‘s talk about paid traffic (I reversed engineered one of his funnels upon returning home… brilliant stuff), Dennis Becker’s talk about being banned from Adsense (soooo could relate), and Brad Gosse‘s talk about, well, I don’t remember the title, but he said one thing which remains with me to this day.

It was always to be proud of what you had to teach, and never consider telling folks how good you are to be ‘shameless self-promotion’.

Now, one of my earlier niches was Internet recruiting…and I *so* remember people implying that if you even *hint* at paid products you offer… oooo! Shameless self promotion! NEVER talk about what you have to sell because selling is BAD!

What’s your take? Is it okay to say,

Yes! My product shines and here’s why it will benefit you to buy it!

Or should only the rest of the world reveal how valuable your material is… and you should simply be humble?

What’s your take?
