It’s Monday morning and what a thrilling start I personally had….I couldn’t log into my Skype on my desktop, AND saw unfamiliar contacts in my Skype on my Laptop.
As Lassie would say every time Timmy fell down the well:
WTF?
Eventually, I was able to get back into Skype (YAY! for finding notes about my passwords!) and decided to share all of my adventures with you.
Let’s begin, aye?
Step 1.) Got issues with Skype? Want to secure it as much as possible?
HAH! You’re not the only one!
While researching how to secure Skype, I came up with this latest bit of news:
(Did you know your IP is leaked, and today’s tools let you figure out someone’s IP address by searching for him on Skype, then automate launching denial-of-service attacks on that person’s home)?
And if that wasn’t a good enough bit of news, I learned about Skype and Steam resolvers!

Step 2.) Do Not Panic.
Sure, your account might now be soliciting a bazillion dollars in $100 increments from all your friends.

But back to stuff right now: chances are…. you probably have a Facebook/Twitter account as well, right?

So here’s what I did.
1.) Changed Skype passwd.
2.) Changed EVERY passwd.
3.) Made sure to DEACTIVATE the Skype <==> FB App
4.) Went to blog about it
5.) Found my server down
6.) Wrote about it here! 🙂
More as details emerge.
It does appear there’s bunches of holes one can use to hijack your Skype account – always take steps to secure as much as possible.
