Where was I? Ah yes, Friday.
Yesterday was beyond awful.
But I’m still above ground, mind you, so yay.
You might know from prior newsletters that I have a fused ankle…
… and the only thing I can really do in the gym is recumbent biking and weight lifting.
Well, the partial tear in my tendon has killed off said weight lifting…
… and wow, did I ever take a flying leap off the logic train.
So like always, I decided to pass on what I had learned:
“You know how lots of times, all you see on FB are the highlight reels of people’s lives?
And how sometimes, that can really get folk down….
All they see, day after day, is the awesome updates everyone ELSE is sharing, and they think to themselves, “Jeepers self.
My life sucks.”
Know what I mean?
Anywhos.
The plain fact is, EVERYONE goes thru crummy times. Lots of times though, they don’t share it on social media (because if they did THAT, they would shatter the image of their perfect lives!).
But I think the miserable times are just as powerful to read about as the magnificent times, don’t you agree?
Which is why I’ll share that this morning was more godawful than living on decaf for 34 years.
I will be the first to admit it, it was pure emotions. Zero logic. I built up the “what ifs” regarding my physical condition (no more weight lifting!) and morphed it into a Godzilla-ending metaphysical crisis of gargantuan propotions.
But instead of rebelling against that, this one time…. this time, I decided to accept the angst and let it totally smoosh me. Cue the violins, rouse the symphony and all that…. yep – I was totally flattened.
After which I took a nap.
Woke up, felt better, and realized….
It’s *okay* to be afraid.
And it’s okay to be temporarily weak and be good to *yourself*.
Because you never really do know what the future holds, and the unknown can be scary indeed.
So honor that.
Don’t allow it to define the rest of your life, of course, but it’s simply *okay* to acknowledge your fears, your worries… listen to them, honor them, and then let them *go*.
Sure, they might come back later on (nothing in life is guaranteed!) but you can deal with that… then.
Your takeaway?
Don’t get taken in by people’s highlight reels online.
Like you, they have miserable times, grand times, scary times and the like….
What’s important is how YOU choose to walk through your personal fire…
… and how you come out… on the other side.

All I have to say is:
Youth is wasted on the young.
To wit:
“All you young whipper snappers (aka anyone younger than me)….
Appreciate your health and well-being as much as you can, while you have them.
It’s just plain heck to see one’s body smoosh this way and then that way and then wheeee.
But of course, things could always be worse and that’s what to remember.
Going to take awhile for elbow/shoulder to heal. In the meanwhile, no more strength training (which was my fav exercise activity) but I can still do 1 armed aquajogging so yay.
Always look at what’s still possible compared to what has been lost.

Mainly the aftermath of this:
See…. because my right arm is acting up, I cannot really move it much during swimming.
So my aquajogging was…. character-building!
I ended up making this in the parking lot:
