Oh my oh my. Discovered yesterday that I might be driving to Montreal, Canada tomorrow – one of my kids is speaking at a North American PolyGlot thingee. This will require about 6 hours driving each way… what I would never do for myself (business travel), I guess I will do for my kids. It’s going to be sheer heck once I return, mind you (my body will not appreciate this travel via car whatsoever) but hey.
Parents do stuff like this. 🙂
Elsewhere in Lingland, oh yes! The kids! You know life is grand when they surpass you… my eldest helped out my youngest bigtime with superb sisterly advice. I told my other kids that when we see her next, we must all drop to our knees and bow to her greatness. I then proceeded to demonstrate that… and Honorable Daughter II had to help me back to my feet. 🙂

So exhausted. So very very exhausted. But I did have a funny conversation earlier… a colleague of mine asked, why do I work so hard? (I was out of commission last Wednesday and Thursday, so all the PokeThingees were done on Tuesday/Friday/Saturday.
My response? I work *normal* (for me!). That’s one of the best things about knowing what works best for you – you can put your skills to the best efforts possible, even IF by chance….. they’re not mainstream. 🙂

Very humbled by it all. ‘Matter of fact, I had earlier written this:
“…For those people who want know is it possible for newbies to achieve the success I have done with my Pokemon cheatsheet….
The answer is this.
You can put yourself on the *path* to said success…. but unless you are hugely willing to go into massive Learn/Product Creation mode etc….
Wanting to achieve *my* success is the *wrong goal*.

‘Tis so so true!!
Your goal should be to earn *more than zero*. Once you’ve received those few cents or dollars in commissions or sales…. a key will turn in your mind… one that says, “Jeepers self, making money online and/or out of thin air… it’s really possible!!”
I vividly remember having a chat with a businesswoman regarding digital product sales. She specialized in high end retail stuff; I was earlobe-deep into releasing 97 cent thingees on the Warrior Forum. I remember the air of disbelief from her when I shared I was satisfied with that… after all, I mean seriously… 97 *cents*? You consider THAT a success?
I sure did. Because it represented to me… a *beginning*. It was a validation that I could make money out of thin air.
Back when I returned to IM, I released 2 products a week like clockwork. Little cheapie thingees… I first used PLR as upsells, and then tentatively tried making my own. Such glorious failures I had back then…. and every now and then, I’d score big with WSOTDs like Secret Facebook Genie…. but ‘way more often, I’d flame out with things like FB JV Snatcher (spent SO much money in contests/prizes/bonuses because I SO believed in the product and what… 26 sales? You can’t pay for such secret knowledge… the utter bone-crushing ego-smooshing decaffeinating agony simply HAS to be experienced to be fully appreciated!!).
Oh, and the commission agonies! I remember spirited discussions with folk about, why give away 100% of the front end, people should be honored to promote my products!!!
Ah, memories of the young and idjut-like who didn’t want to accept reality and long-term business goals. Truly, I smile today to think on it.
But I digress. 🙂
Back when I was first testing out cheatsheets (and hattip to the most magnificent Andy Brocklehurst who first opened my eyes regarding the potential…. I think it was more than 2 years ago!), the common view was, you can’t (oooo forgive myself here, I cannot resist) “make good bank” (Over the top marketers, did I get the phrase right?) with low-ticket products. NOBODY (to the best of my knowledge) had ever considered having a low-ticket front end that delivers on all promises in the sales page, and then include 8 related products in the funnel, 5 of them superTailored to the main offer).
And because I like making money to support my family, I had *zero* problems with evolving to that level. My first cheatsheets had perhaps 3 products in the funnel (2 PLR and one discount for former releases of mine). During that time, I continued to develop my rep for authority marketing… and realized I could take any niche and divide it into 4 sections:
Upsell: Niche Profit Maker (15+ ways to make money with Niche – in the Pokemon case, it’s 17 ways (with #17 being 11 ways to profit witih Pokemon offline/local)
Upsell to that upsell: Niche Profit Maker GOLD (done for you tools, research, intell, etc.)
Crosssell: Niche Authority Maker (how to start building your authority in niche)
Upsell to that crosssell: Niche Authority Maker GOLD (rolodex of resources, my own personal Feedly dashboards, etc.).
So. All of the above *enhance* the main cheatsheet – if folks are savvy enough to use that as all they need… their knowledge requirements are satisfied by the FE. But if they want additional training/tools, they’re available as upsells/cross-sells within the funnel.
This ensures I can make any customer a happy customer – I handle all levels of experience.
Again… I didn’t return to IM and BAM! begin at that level.
I had to work my way up, laugh hysterically at my own mistakes, feel superProud when I did achieve the home runs, and most importantly….
NEVER (but never ever!) blame *anyone* for my failures/successes…. except myself.
I, and I alone, am the master of my destiny. Nobody else. And yes, I did pay for personal one on one coaching, I did pay for services I never ended up using, I did it all… on my terms.
So what is your takeaway?
*Of course* you can start to make money online. It doesn’t matter if you’re a newbie, if you’ve never done it before… you can always give yourself permission to *begin*.
But beware – it WILL take time. It WILL take effort. As it should. If you become a product creator, you WILL have a lousy launch or 73568947568. That’s okay. It’s all part of your own personal hero’s journey for leveling yourself up… only *you* can give yourself permission to make things happen.
Oh yes, and one more thing – the one skill that will set you apart from the rest of the thundering herd is the ability to turn invisible and fly like an eagle to wherever the rarest Pokemon live!
Okay, not that. The one skill that will ramp up how much money you will make…
… is being *willing* to try ideas you believe in.
They might be ridiculed by your peers (cheatsheets? Really, Barb? I mean, really?) but I say, decaf coffee to them! Always be willing to see for yourself if something can work *for you*… or not.
Your bank account will thank you for it.

One last thing. Greatness almost always is never a solitary journey… one (if they’re wise) grows by listening and learning from their colleagues. For me personally, this includes the following (and probably dozens more that I can’t think of now, but will continue to add):
