And today is Halloween!
I confess, I’m not much for it these days, but my kids will enjoy so that’s what’s important.
And also very sadly….
One of my colleagues committed suicide yesterday. 🙁
I wrote:

How have you coped when thoughts of suicide crossed your mind?
While its very rare these days, I have had times where I intellectually considered such a thing. At the first signs of said thoughts, I generally drop everything and spend the rest of the day focusing on treating myself well. I ignore any little voices that might say, you’re not deserving of goodness/etc., and just hunkerdown, go into survive-until-the-next-day mode, and….
And the next day always comes.
One time in my past, I had a far more… intense desire (this was in college). I dealt with that by holding a knife against my wrist, looking at it closely, and then realizing it would hurt like hell.
And I don’t like pain.
I got myself to the college psychologist the day after.
Now, that particular way of dealing with things works with *me*.
What have you found that works best for you?”
