Ever wish you could wave a magic wand and all the fake news in the world would disappear?
Ever wonder just what such an accomplishment might look like, and why that would be grand for marketers?
Well, as a marketer, it helps to distinguish when colleagues are lying about their products, or discovering their claims are 140% bogus (so you don’t want to associate with them or spread their lies).
The thing is, fake news is big business… and can end up making some people huge sums of money by driving viral mobs towards helpless targets.
Luckily, folks in academia have put together resources to help anyone determine what is fake and what is not (and it’s called the CRAAP test, would you believe?).
It gives you these resources to determine if the news is true:
==> Currency: the timeliness of the information
When was the information published or posted?
Has the information been revised or updated?
Is the information current or out-of date for your topic?
Are the links functional?
==> Relevance: the importance of the information for your needs
Does the information relate to your topic or answer your question?
Who is the intended audience?
Is the information at an appropriate level (i.e. not too elementary or advanced for your needs)?
Have you looked at a variety of sources before determining this is one you will use?
Would you be comfortable using this source for a research paper?
==> Authority: the source of the information
Who is the author/publisher/source/sponsor?
Are the author’s credentials or organizational affiliations given?
What are the author’s credentials or organizational affiliations given?
What are the author’s qualifications to write on the topic?
Is there contact information, such as a publisher or e-mail address?
Does the URL reveal anything about the author or source?
examples:
.com (commercial), .edu (educational), .gov (U.S. government)
.org (nonprofit organization), or
.net (network)
==> Accuracy: the reliability, truthfulness, and correctness of the content
Where does the information come from?
Is the information supported by evidence?
Has the information been reviewed or refereed?
Can you verify any of the information in another source or from personal knowledge?
Does the language or tone seem biased and free of emotion?
Are there spelling, grammar, or other typographical errors?
==> Purpose: the reason the information exists
What is the purpose of the information? to inform? teach? sell? entertain? persuade?
Do the authors/sponsors make their intentions or purpose clear?
Is the information fact? opinion? propaganda?
Does the point of view appear objective and impartial?
Are there political, ideological, cultural, religious, institutional, or personal biases?

So again, why should you *care*?
Well, human beans that we are… when we read about things that “makes our blood boil” or causes us to join a figurative mob “in search of justice” etc.etc.etc., not only are we wasting valuable time that could instead be dedicated to making money…
… but we’re also allowing ourselves to get outraged about things we, as *individuals* , just cannot change.
We’re reduced to being cannon fodder for those folks behind the curtains who are pulling the strings.
Remember:
Change comes about with purpose.
Not just mindless barking on the Internet.

… do your due-diligence before giving yourself permission to be outraged.
OR, simply tell yourself – this hamster wheel really isn’t a requirement for a good life. Close whatever app that made you look, and get back to what’s *really* important in life….

First, of course… we start with the gym!
Wheee! The husband is still dealing with jetlag, so I went by myself. But before I left, I made lots of my colleagues envious by posting MY version of the authentic Feet at the Beach:

Then at home, I did… THIS!

Back when Kid4 was home (2? months ago), they made their own version of stirfry and I froze the leftovers and promptly forgot about them.
The day after returning from our West Coast trip, I was extremely hungry but really didn’t want to leave the house. I found said frozen stirfry and that was my entire days’ food – it was quite good!
So I figured, alrighty – make a new batch, freeze it… and then in the future, if I need food but don’t want to leave the house (or order delivery, but hey, that’s extra money for the drivers tip you know)…
I will survive. 🙂 I seasoned it with soy sauce, sesame oil, soup mix and several other thingess… it turned out grand.

First off my apologies for missing yesterday – the husband and I ended leaving at 4:30am Pacific Central time and I was just tooo exhausted to be effective. 🙁 I promise to be better today!
Don’t forget yesterdays…
Where was I?
Ah yes, Thursday!!
But first:
Ever hear all those self-motivational thingees that say it’s not your fault that you’re fat or depressed or anxious or whatever?
Or what about…
It’s not your fault that you have yet to earn a dollar from your online endeavors to this date?
Well, here’s the thing.
To be honest, that fact is irrelevant.
And while indeed, it might NOT be your fault that you’re fat/depressed/anxious/etc. (ie, your genetic makeup might make it really tough to lose weight or exercise or approach ‘happiness’ from a different angle…
… or that its not your fault that you have yet to build a 6 figure business online…
The plain fact is, nobody *else* can force you to fix whatever is standing between you and your desired goals (personal or business).
In other words…
You really DO own it.
You can have the entire world pulling for you but if you don’t care enough to make those critical changes yourself…
… you’re just going to continue to spiral down into depression/bleakness and all around ickness.
Sorry, but those be the facts.
So how DO you manage to pull yourself up out of the darkness? How DO you manage to actually start seeing success online?
It varies from person to person.
* Some people benefit from anti-depressants/anti-anxiety meds. There should be ZERO shame to taking these – if they help you stabilize your emotions, then more power to you! So do yourself a favor and see a psychiatrist if that is something that you are willing to do (and ignore all the scamsters trying to siphon cash out of your pocket by claiming Big Pharma is out to get you, but our Big Homeopathy is just what you need and only 37 times more expensive!).
* Other people benefit from exercise and meditation. Exercise really IS wonderful… no getting around that! But if you lose the ability to exercise well, you might give up right from the very beginning (you could be too overweight, too caught up in your own misery, etc.etc.etc.). In that case, plus one it – instead of doing 0 for exercise, walk once around your house. Or, do 5 stand-up/sit-downs in your chair. Or, park 50 feet further away from any stores you go to and add those extra 50-odd steps as a way to do just a little bit more.
* Still other people benefit from mental toughness. They *welcome* any challenges that try to crush their life’s spirit down and view them as a martial battle that has only one outcome – they survive! Needless to say, this mindset can be quite difficult to internalize. That’s actually the one I like the most – I always view that any fires I walk thru… I benefit from the results.
And when you treat the inner YOU…
… you can start then to focus on the results said Inner YOU can create… aka, a successful business online!
The main thing is this.
If you find that doing something for YOU is not enough motivation…
That’s okay.
Do it instead for the people you love.
Not only that:
Don’t expect *other* people to solve *your* problems.
It’s okay that you have them and its better than okay when you try to solve them!
But if you sit by your lonesome and expect some kind of shining glorious knight (accompanied by swallows laden with coconuts) to fix the things *you* own…
You’ll never start the see the success you deserve.
Your takeaway?
Take ownership.
Take that ownership *today*.
And start yourself on your own personal journey of self-discovery…. and future success.

Yesterday saw me catching up on sleep from 11am until 3pm or so… and then going to bed around 8pm.
And the husband…
Bunches of sleep there as well.
No gym, but I *did* get to bike downstairs:
And here’s a picture of the get-together yesterday – excellent stepson, glorious husband, stepson’s grand mom, and lil ‘ole me!
It went really well, I must say.
Elsewhere in Lingland, things are going peachy, methinks. Kids at school are being totally smooshed by schoolwork (and as that parallels real life, I’m happy), Husband is recovering from jet lag too (very happy) and all around…
I’m really grateful to my guardian angel that I had the above adventure!

… just to see how many other people fall prey to it or how it blows up on social media?
Well then!
Remember the “10 year challenge” meme thingee that showed upon FB awhile back?
The premise was, post a picture of you from 10 years ago and one now to see how you have aged.
Harmless?
Well, to some peoples, yes.
To others, they saw it as an extremely easy (and free!) way for FB to build up a database of user-generated content… and perhaps teach machine learning critters how to profit from that data.

has an extremely interesting breakdown of the idea, and comes to the conclusion that indeed, it was simply “a fun thing someone else thought of.”
Thing is, though, after the conspiracy people folk started emerging from the woodwork, people actually *did* consider….

And I’d love to say that people realized that giving up so *much* of their past privacy was not the wisest thing one could do.
‘Course, Id also like to say eating Nerds candy will help you lose weight too.
The article deconstructs AI to the point of stating:
“…To the AI you are not a face, you are just a series of pixels in varying shades that it uses to determine where common reference points lie and it uses those points of reference to determine if this face is a match to your initial template.”
Catch that word, ‘template’?
Templates are grand things indeed, especially when applied to marketing (and AI or Augmented Reality or Virtual Reality, etc. can be added into the overall mixture.
Why is this important?
Well, as the future continues to unfold, new and better (?) technologies emerge that you truly should keep abreast with, so you can incorporate them into your money making activities as the years roll by.

I am finally home.
The past weekend was *hugely* draining but very rewarding. Note to self – I am no longer 27!
The husband and I visited family for 4 days, kinda like a whirlwind trip. We celebrated my stepson’s birdieDay at BeniHana’s – ever been there?
You see things like … this!
Really great time indeed.
Got to the airport yesterday and had a very uneventful flight.
One thing to note – I made sure to bring extra portable chargers (4!) and ended up using 1.5 during said flight (yep, I gave into the desire to purchase Internet, and was able to amuse myself via reading and the like).
Got home and I’d love to say fell right asleep but gnope – was up until 10:30pm or so.
Oh, and I heard that Amanda has released her latest!
