Where was I? Ah yes, Monday!
Yesterday was amazing! After tackling free climbing Mt. Everest, I returned home to redesign the eBay interface as part of my weekend relaxation.
Okay just kidding. 🙂 Husband and I took the kids out for lunch, we talked bunches about college, that was grand.
And I got sick and tired of the tweebleheads on FB, so I wrote:
As an entrepreneur, I’m pro-capitalism.
As a human bean, I’m pro-people (aka women and men). Don’t try to get me to mock men. Don’t try to get me to mock women. (unless, of course, said mocking involves the neverEnding torment of programming/hacking jokes). We’re all in this thing call LIFE together… and being a jerk to EITHER gender is unworthy.
As a Mom, I’m pro-whatever-my-kids-identify-as (my kid is gay and I support that kid 140% as said kid is awesome beyond humanity).
As a law-abiding citizen, I’m pro-law-enforcement.
As a woman, I’m pro-choice (before you talk to me about abortions of 1st trimesters/etc., tell me how you’re putting your money where your mouth is and are supporting the children you force to be born, ensuring they live in a safe environment and are well fed, taken care of and in no fear of being beaten/killed by abusive parents).
As a capitalist, I’m pro-make-success-happen and don’t blame your lack on other people.
As a survivor of childhood bullying, I’m pro-Don’t-Be-A-Victim. Don’t give unworthy tweebleheads rent-free space in your mind. Don’t go searching for support and understanding and validation amongst people who don’t give a damn about you. Instead, build up your Inner Hero and scoff at folks who are not worthy of your greatness. Take away their power over you.
As a parent, I’m anti-unconditional-love. I’m 140% for showing extreme patience, love and the like… but a family relationship is a two-way street. My love is never unconditional; treat me as you want me to treat you.
As a spouse, I’m pro-work-at-it. A successful marriage is *hard* work at times! Everyone has failed mind-reading 101… and unless you know how to talk so the other actually *listens*…. it is SO easy to get on the wrong path to disaster. This year will be 24 years for my husband and me… and we’ve weathered some agonizingly tough times. The good times are well worth it… and well-earned.
And as an American, as you can see….
… I hold positions that are neither 100% Republican OR Democratic.
In other words…
Do NOT label me.
Do NOT tell me how I should run my life by YOUR standards.
Do NOT judge me because I choose NOT to be defined by something so simple-minded as one political party or the other.
And please do NOT try to get me to join mobbing and mocking and all-around jerkiness.
I reject whole-heartedly the idea that its cool or fun to build oneself up by smooshing others down.

Where was I? Ah yes, Sunday!
Nicely quiet day was yesterday (those should be made mandatory, you know?).
All kids except my youngest were away (well, 2 of course ’cause of college) and the other because of Robotics competition. From what I understand, it went great (yay!) AND …. kid is interested in taking some college courses during the summer before college starts, so yay.
SOME year, one of my kids will express more of a desire to do marketing!
But alas, today is not that day. 🙂

Chiat had purchased two slots — a sixty-second slot in the third quarter to show the full ad, plus a thirty-second slot later on to repeat an edited-down version. Chiat sold only the thirty-second slot and claimed it was too late to sell the longer one. By disobeying his client’s instructions, Chiat cemented Apple’s place in advertising history…. Oh my flappin’ earlobes.
So! Yesterday.
Yesterday was the full spectrum of emotions.
I visited one doc and discovered that the exostoses on my back/hips are starting to make themselves known (extra cartilage lumps, long story). So I wrote:
“No matter what hits you, the only thing that matters is that (after you give yourself time to grieve/mourn/selfPity/etc.) you get back up again.”
Probably will grieve this weekend and then move on.

Life *happens*. But its how you deal with it that makes a difference:

“When I had my amputation, I asked to keep my leg….my doctor said no. Then I asked if I could keep just my toe…he said no. I wanted to do something similar to what this lady is doing. I did create a blog called “Living with Murphy” which is the name for my prosthetic leg. Murphy is Robocop’s name before he became Robocop.

(my kids have always wanted to know when I would get a prosthetic so they could call me the Mominator. 🙂 And the doctor didn’t let me keep my exostoses that were excised from my skeletal structure, either. Wah!)
