Where was I? Ah yes, Monday!
What a heck of a holiday yesterday. Massive amounts of blorgytoes indeed!
Basically bunches of miscommunications with the kids…
… which led to me feeling mighty sorry for myself….
… which led to me talking it out with the husband and realizing, I’m in danger of turning into my mom.
Don’t you hate it when things like that happen?
Things went upwards from there, mind you, and we all ended up with an enjoyable day (some together, others just with the husband watching Rogue One).
Sigh. These things happen.

If you’re a parent and your kids tweebleate, you don’t have to smoosh them on the holidays HOWEVER, effective communication can recover it all. Sure, the holidays are special for kids… they’re also supposed to be great for parents too. Never forget that.
I hope your holidays, if you celebrated them, were grand!

That is all. It’s not too much effort. A simple “Hey there, thinking about you, thank you so much for being my friend this past year!”
You simply cannot underestimate the sheer positive emotions such goodwill will generate.
And having done so, you’ll have contributed to the joy and happiness of the holiday season.
When you’re done reading this, think back to what you’ve seen during the past few days/weeks/etc. and who stands out for having experienced the opposite of laughter and glee.
And then simply send the above message to them.
It will take you less than a minute…. but the benefits could mean the difference between someone being sunk in despair this holiday weekend… and someone who chooses to pull themselves up and *out.*

Yesterday I ventured into the stores and such – it wasn’t as insane as I would have considered.
So yay there.
And ideally today will be a nice useful gym day, spending time with the family, that sorta stuff.
2017 is coming around you know….
Ready for it?
Plus….
You know something, not everyone is looking forward to the holidays.
And if you’re not one of them, much empathy for having to deal with it all.
Please just remember:
One, you’ll get through it.
Two, if you’re going thru tough times now….
… remember that no matter WHAT (I’m really serious here), you ARE a bright shining light to folks around you… even if they never bother to tell you (lots of people never will).
To wit:
“=-=-= If you’re spending the holidays alone =-=-=
If you’re spending the holidays alone, chances are you’re probably not looking forward to it whatsoever.
But that doesn’t mean you have to be miserable the entire time (unless you give yourself permission for a pity party. That’s a great way to get out negative emotions and I’ve done them myself – pick up your fav foods or activities and imagine you’re taking every single one of your miserable sad thoughts, packing them into a suitcase, and then when you’re done, chucking said suitcase into the face of whomever makes you sad, and then skipping merrily off into the sunset laughing hysterically. Try it, it works).
So, if you have to face this weekend alone, consider doing the following.
1.) Lift the spirit of others. Post happy memes for your friends – when you make others happy, it has a habit of creeping up on you as well.
2.) Visit hospitals, shelters, etc. and give random gifts to the people there. Dollar stores have great deals (heck, most store this day do) and you can either wrap them or just give them in a brown paper bag. It’s not the presentation that matters, it’s the spirit behind it.
3.) If you have a pet, lavish extra treats and watch movies with him/her.
4.) Buy yourself something you’ve always wanted but never gave yourself permission to own.
5.) Write a letter to yourself. Spill out all the reasons why you’re alone this week, what led up to it, why it’s so unfair, and how you want 2017 to be.
In other words….
… Treat yourself like the magnificent person you are. You do NOT *need* others to exist….
… you are perfectly magnificent as you are. Give yourself permission to *validate you*.
Let go of all the negatives that have happened this year and last year and the year before that…. all the way up to several decades/centuries if required….
… and honor *yourself*.
You deserve it today and always.”…
