The average length of a web form in 2019 is about 5 form fields. Because contexts vary so wildly, this is neither good nor bad, though we have seen in consistent studies that fewer form fields usually result in higher conversion rates.

Ah yes, it’s Monday!
Yep, it’s Monday all right at 5:45am.
Sunday went a wee bit better but of course, that was Sunday, and today its right back into being smooshed.
However, I did write the following:
Ever feel like you’ve fallen short of communications with those you love?
IF so, how do you make peace with yourself over the past?
For me, personally, it’s by realizing that one really cannot *change* the past.
Nor can one simply keep knee-jerking in response to the same provocations again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again.
It’s been said that doing the same thing 1,000 times and expecting a different outcome (heh. I just noticed – the first syllable and opposite meaning of ‘outcome’ is ‘income’ which means more buy buttons, but I digress) is the height of idjutness.
So where DO you go, AFTER you’ve finally internalized that you cannot change the past?
You use that *very same* past as a diveboard for the future of course (I mean, heck, why go timidly via stepping stones when you can blast that sucker to infinity and beyond!).
And how do you do *that*?
You start by forgiving yourself.
And you continue by realizing you truly ARE only human… and as such, creating brilliantly glorious mistakes that makes the sun seem like a frail, burned out lightbulb in comparison (unless you’re passing by the Solar Energy display in Costco and hear the salesman ask that nice lady wearing the green gym outfit, don’t you want to plug your heating bill directly into the sun)…
… well, it’s kinda sorta to be expected.
From there, you leap joyfully to the understanding that while you cannot control how other people act, you CAN choose to control how you *react*.
And *that’s* what gives you the courage to admit – “Yep, I F’d up. If I could change the past, I would, but I can’t, so I’m not going to waste my precious moments on this planet angsting about spilled coffee. Nor am I going to immerse myself in my echo chamber that tries to hammer home, honestly I was RIGHT all along!
Gnope. Instead, I’m going to admit my weakness and take pride in the fact I’m self-confident enough to say, I’m sorry, I was wrong…. and then I’m going to *let it go*.
I cannot force you to accept my apology. Nor do I want to. That has to come from within.”
And you take note to yourself just HOW you messed up and do your darndest NOT to make the same mistake in the future.
Now, flawed human beans that we are, chances are you will mess up again no matter what.
And that is okay.
Because alas, sometimes it takes more than 1 lesson (perhaps more like 845 of ’em) to truly *learn*.

Be the best *you* that you can be. Don’t beat yourself up over what you got wrong yesterday.
Instead, prop yourself up knowing you’ll be better… tomorrow.

Truly, Saturday was a heck of a day.
My toe is starting a round of ‘how black and blue can we become today?’ series of joyful ickness.
No gym, massive bedrest…. I am planning on today to go ‘WAY better.
And in Lingland, ever deal with teenagers?
I’m having a delightful time with one them, and was moved to write:

Ever run into a challenging time with the folks you love… where misunderstandings abound on all parts, feelings get smooshed, and nobody knows how to break the ice?
Such situations are tough. And painful. And at times, unbelievably agonizing to get thru. Left unchecked, it can cause emotional pain that endures decades if not centuries.
So what do you do, besides marinate yourself in the joyful baths of self-righteousness while you know the person you love is hurting, but you also know that communications aren’t welcome *right now*?
You write.
BUT….
You do NOT send.
You take advantage of sites like Tumblr.com or WordPress.com or any of the free places that abound online…
… and write out your thoughts.
Fill the written version of said thoughts with “I” sentences – ie, you don’t say, your behavior made me feel XYZ.
Instead, you say, “I heard your words and realized I then felt XYZ.” ie, you take *ownership* of your feelings. When you tell someone, YOU MADE ME FEEL BAD, you’re basically absolving yourself of *responsibility*.
Nobody *makes* you act. You (either unconsciously or not) choose to act in certain way that’s (most likely) based upon the centuries of horrendous baggage that you carry (but that’s another story entirely).
Anywhos.
Sometimes you just *can’t* begin the critical conversations when you want (because its a worthless endeavor if the recipient isn’t ready to listen to you).
So instead, *write it*.
Password-protect the blog post (and remember the password!), write down all your feelings, and close with your feelings of love.
In the future, when the negative feelings have lessened, and all parties are willing to talk…
… you’ll be able to point out the fact that the person was *always* in your mind, even when it seemed like all hope was lost. It’s *tangible* proof of your heartfelt feelings… proof in a way that was dated at the exact time of the challenge.

But it’s NOT okay to let said goofs covertly fester into a deadly emotional illness.

Ever sit down and have the following grand thunk to yourself:
“Jeepers self, am I REALLY in the right business?”
Hmmmm?
Sometimes, it’s really tough to truly find what type of business works *best* for you.
For example, long long ago, back before the earth’s crust cooled, it was suggested to me that to really make the big bucks, I should go into offline consulting, create packages for local businesses, etc.etc.etc.etc.
And you know something – for some peoples, that would be truly stellar advice!
For people who view “calling on the phone” to be as delightful as a “do it yourself home vasectomy kit” – it would *never* work whatsoever.
Another example! Let’s say that your current work involves direct interaction with customers (aka, customer service).
IF that interaction requires (dare I hint at it) THE DREADED PPPPHHHHOOOONNNNNEEEEE!!!!!! yet again:
You’re up the proverbial paddle without a creek.
And when you factor in social media…
… and how one irate customer basically can cost you your offline business…
Well then.
Dipping your fingertips in molten lava to see how slowly your skin melts off might seem more desirable instead.
So what DO you do… to find out what *really* works for you?
You watch the movie Balto 2!
Now, this was an animation made ears and ears ago, and well hey, let’s revisit a post I made about it!
