And today?
It’s actually still Friday! A bit before 12am….
Mainly because today was… character-building indeed.
Let’s see.
Didn’t get to the gym (wah!).
However, the husband took out kid4 for father/son time and school supply shopping – they were out for 3 hours! Apparently Sears had some awesomely great deals regarding such things.
And because its been awhile since both kids are at home, I went to Shoprite to pick up ground beef, and then the local Korean grocery store for the veggies (love supporting local businesses!).
Alas, didn’t take any pix of it all, but it did work out grand – hamburger mix that included steak seasoning, scallions, a bit of soy sauce and an egg, all mixed together and cooked… this!
Family loved it!
But returning to the topic…
So what’s the thing about accepting hell?
This is what I wrote:

Ever wish the world operated in the way YOU decree it should?
Ever decide you’re going to change the world in the way you see fit?
Interestingly enough… that *can* be done BUT…
… generally only with the scope of your local surroundings.
Case in point – Almost 2 years ago, Kid4 spear-headed a campaign to get better mental health teachings in middle school. He researched and presented his points about how when you catch a kid’s emotional pain/angst/difficulties early on school, there’s far more of a probability of said kid staying stable and learning mechanisms to cope.
He was invited to present his findings to several board members in that school….
… and last year was told that because he started the ball rolling, the school curriculum would be changed to include a number of his suggestions.
Now, ask yourself.
Did this change the world?
Gnope.
But!
Did it change the community he touched?
YES indeed!
His efforts resulted in something that can help ALL the kids in my town’s school.
And this change *never* would have happened… if he didn’t discover *how* to present his thoughts so his audience would *listen* and *not* tune themselves out.
So what’s your takeaway?
It’s this.
If you want *change*… you have to:
a.) Put in the effort to build up your case
b.) Ensure you do NOT step on anyone’s toes (if those anyones have the power to squash your message)
c.) If it doesn’t work right away, do not lose hope – it took over a year for the changes to be accepted).
d.) Big huge protests are fine and dandy, but remember that the people behind them who are pulling the strings – if you get shot/smooshed/arrested etc., it does not affect the string-pullers at all. You’re considered expendable.
Do NOT be expendable.
Do NOT unquestioningly follow the herd.
And follow the money trail (which is often hidden) whenever possible. The results of that might be truly eye-opening indeed.

For me, well… at around 8:30 on Friday night, I decided to re-marathon Star Trek: Discovery until the husband came to sleep. My gosh, that series is so gut-punchingly grand… it really brought back some rather awesome memories indeed.

The best way to get people to like you, obviously, is simply to be likeable….
… but it goes ‘way beyond that.
I think you shouldn’t try to get everyone to like you… especially if you’re an introvert. Letting folks have neutral feelings about you is grand as well.
Thing is… sometimes you feel compelled to hide aspects of your personality to get people to like you.
And that can cause massive stress down the road.
So I think the best way to get people to like you is to:
* Be kind to all (except those who hurt your friends or family, in which case send a custom Godzilla to their house for home redecoration)
* Refuse to engage with jerks (you’ll have people argue with you on your timeline, or try to gaslight you, or otherwise beat their virtual chest in an effort to intimidate you. Life is too short to deal with tweebleheads. If you must engage, simply write, let’s agree to disagree. And if the person doesn’t back off, then block them on FB (I recently did that myself). Your restraint will be viewed as quite likeable.
* Realize people judge you by your actions, not your thoughts (unless you perform the action of sharing your thoughts). Don’t act like a tweeblehead yourself.
* Reach out. If you see someone is having a tough time online, reach out a digital hand and offer an ear to hear and a shoulder to cry on.
And most importantly….
* Pay things forward. If you see an opportunity to do a good deed, do it. If you can raise someone’s spirits by sharing a ‘hang in there!’ message, do it.
Be a force for good in this world. And your friendship networks… will grow.
