Don’t forget yesterdays:
Where was I? Ah yes, Saturday!
Spent most of yesterday recovering from the insanely insane week! But here’s something cool….
My youngest got rather pissed off at me yesterday. And for the very first time, I was told:
“Mom, I cannot talk to you right now – I need Dad!”
So cool! My spouse is Chinese and was not raised with the biggest amount of emotion that is humanly possible….
… and to see both of them come so far, well, it literally brought tears to my eyes. (followed by me letting the other siblings know, who had the same reaction. 🙂 ).
And! Got to the gym:

Today, one kid is at a Robotics competition, and my youngest will be building some furniture.

Don’t forget yesterdays:
Where was I? Ah yes, Friday!
Finally I can reveal it.
Over the past weekend, my close-to-100 year old mother in law finally passed away.
On Monday, I packed the family into the MooseMobile and we drove down to North Carolina.
Arrived there on Tuesday, funeral was on Wednesday, and we got back home yesterday.
Here’s the words of wisdom I shared on FB:
“…25 years now I have been traveling to North Carolina to visit the in-laws. And now that has come to an end.
I am grateful that my mother in law accepted me as a worthy spouse to my husband (I am Caucasian, husband’s parents are old-school Chinese). My MIL was an extremely strong and courageous woman back when women weren’t exactly viewed as equals to men… but she did the very very best she could to raise both my husband and his siblings to be true to themselves.
Thus, I apologize for my relative disappearance online these past few days – I tend to be quiet about such things until they’re over.
Your takeaway?
Life is short, peoples. If your parents are still alive, and if you have any unresolved issues with them…
… take the time to rebuild bridges.
Remember, no matter how much negative emotions you might have from times past…
… chances are, you’re viewing issues in a far different light then the other person.
Misunderstandings can totally torch a family relationship until its too late to heal.
I am grateful that never occured in my family…. but know other close friends have unresolved pain and angst.
Death takes away the ability to bring peace.
Don’t lose the time you have left….”
I won’t share pictures of the funeral in this post (you can see them on my FB wall). It was an open casket funeral (which is something I just can’t handle). But yep – it was very character-building indeed.
During this time, however, I DID manage to automate my business and also uncover what does NOT work (hint – if you’re going to use a squeeze page for a free offer…. possibly consider using something besides WP.com‘s 2016 theme! I wanted to test it out and yep… I, um, tested it out. 🙂 ).
