Where was I? Ah yes, Sunday!
Yesterday I drove 496497 miles to visit my eldest at college. The kid is growing so well! Brought the family with me too – we took everyone out to a really great Breakfast Place (think rosemary infused omellete) and then a rather cool Pizza place where you can make individual pies (!) and have them baked right then and there.
So yummy!
Best thing I took away from the visit is even if its tough to see your kids struggling – its their hero’s journey to walk, not yours. You can only witness and walk side by side. Very cool goodness.
Alas, on the ride home…
MASSIVE traffic jams, so we ended up driving to New Zealand and back to avoid it:
And at home….
Worst thing I took away was massive smoosh on my ankles. 🙁 Thus, taking it easy today is what I want to do.

Actually that’s not quite true… things have been quite character-building but overall very good indeed. I can share more tomorrow.
Good things that DID happen was showcasing how one can borrow self-confidence if one doesnt have it oneself! That is a great story, actually… its something I learned during my 98737 past years of being a parent. I think the lesson was internalized so yay!

Now, by doing so, I was ignoring my own promise to myself – never take things in media at face value.
Caliban Darklock wrote a superb commentary that included:
“Hey, just a quick point.
Remember before we voted, the media on both sides totally lied to us about what was happening with the vote?
I mean they both predicted landslides, and what we got was a result decided by a number that looks more like a salary than a population.
So why is it that when the media now turn around and tell you there are riots in the streets and this side or that side is doing this thing or that thing… so many people haven’t learned their lesson?
The media lie. It’s what they do. They don’t care if you’re smart. They don’t care if you learn anything. They just want you to keep watching. News is not education. It’s entertainment.”
