Here’s what I wrote about it:

Have you ever hated someone so much that you would dance with glee if that person took a delicate tumble off the 6th floor story around the original Bell Labs atrium?
This topic came to mind for several reasons, but mainly because….
I’ve been seeing some posts these days that mirror such unmitigated hatred, it’s a miracle my browser has yet to implode.
I’m talking hatred for:
* people you think wronged you
* politicians you cannot stand
* family members who took advantage of you
etc.etc.etc.
Now, I can totally relate to such intense feelings – I vividly remember the person who always brings back heartwarming thoughts of them taking a leap from said 6th story inside the original Big Green Mirror of my town (ie, the building’s facade is made of dark green glass and when the sun strikes it, wow, it’s imposing.).
Such a comforting, wonderful feeling it is, seeing someone you hate… bite the dust.
Or is it?
See, life really IS too darned short to waste your time and energy caring about someone/something/someAnything that truly doesn’t give a damn if you exist or not.
Life sucks that way, sometimes.
So what to do when you find yourself immobilized by rage?
You already know what I’m about to say….
You make money from it.
How, I hear you ask?
You give yourself permission to channel that powerful emotion (and make no mistake – hatred, like love, can give wings to your creativity and see you designing solutions that work…. that no sane individual would have considered possible).
So the next time you find yourself frothing at the mouth and fantasizing about hiring questionable gentlemen who specialize in kneecap breaking….
… Recognize you’re giving rent-free space in your mind to someone who does NOT deserve it!
Got that?
Transform that negative energy into something that benefits not only you…
… but those you love as well.
In closing, you might not be able to control what others do.
That’s a fact of life.
BUT you can recognize that *crucial* space that exists between the provocation and your reaction…
… and give yourself permission to ensure that reaction is something that ultimate ends up benefiting you and the ones you love.
