And slowly but surely, I am getting back into the swing of things.
Didn’t get to the gym, alas.
But even before then….
The thing is:
Age.
Age gives you wisdom (ideally).
Age gives you calmness and coolness as well.
Age does NOT give mechanical parts goodness!
Woke up this morning to a broken baseboard heater and a house that was jes a weeeee bit…. frozen.
Now, I’m okay with such things generally….
But the husband does NOT handle cold well.
So that was NOT good.
Plus, the Kingly Moose’s hind legs are acting up as well again….
Methinks I’m going to have to go another round of meds for him. 🙁
But, Kid 3 is happily ensconced back once more at college and yep… still filled with a huge amount of gratitude for learning just how to communicate effectively.
Amazing how whenever folks talk about effective parenting… much of the responsibility for growth is put on said kids (as it should be), but as said kids do grow…
… there’s a huge chance their ideas might become something you should consider as well.

One should never stop growing… even if that one is the parent.

Why?
Lots of reasons including throwing up and sleeping earlier but the thing is:
Apples.
Wow apples are good.
The husband got bunches of apples from Costco, and I’ve been steadily mowing my way thru them.
Yesterday morning, dropped off Kid 3 who is now back at college…
… and basically spent yesterday doing the collapse I should have done the day before.
Slept a lot (yay!) but alas….
I’m up now. Wah!
Writing this newsletter and will then try to sleep.
‘course, have the mooses come in/go out/come in/go out 9439308 times really didn’t help whatsoever.

It’s Saturday!
No! Actually it’s Friday!
As in, I’m writing this Friday night because sleep yet again is eluding me. Wah!
The thing is:
Facial piercings.
Ever see facial piercings?
Ever desire one?
Me, well, definitely NOT… after all I don’t even have my ears pierced.
My first kid upon entering college had it done…
… and now my 3rd kid has desired the same.
So…. yesterday we had an adventure – visiting friends, lunch, and then to the piercing place to piercerate the kid.
I was there to hold the kid’s hand…. and was the perfect image of rock-hard stability and support (yay!) and let me tell you, that was one of THE most painful experiences I have ever gone thru as a parent.
But you know the best part?
It was a great bonding experience for us.
I’m learning that even if my kids are *starkly* different than me when it comes to, ahem, willingly inflicting pain via piercings of anything….
…. well, that’s *them*. Their self-expression. I personally do not own that… I only own the fact they are comfortable enough with me to share, well, just about everything.
So grateful for that. ‘matter of fact, wrote:
Sometimes life happens in ways you can never anticipate.
And sometimes the things that cause you to shriek to the heavens can end up evolving into something unbelievably beautiful.
And sometimes teeny tiny mistakes can destroy worlds.
Never take your time time on this planet for granted…
… and never take the people you love for granted as well.
There are these brief shining moments in your life that will stay with you until the day you die. I’ve had some of them myself… and can instantly call up exactly where I was, how I was feeling, what the future could offer and all that jazz.
Today was another one of those treasured moments. Something that made me ever so grateful that the future is always in motion….
… and sometimes that motion can deliver incredible goodness indeed.
