And as I had mentioned before, the Corona virus is a very real danger.  Heck, the masks I bought for my family 3 days ago are now all out of stock OR 3x the price or both.

Please don’t be stupid.  Sure, it might not end up affecting you, but better to be safer than sorry.

Should the masks become available again, *get them*.

And that is all I will say.

Elsewhere in Lingland, one of my kids came down with the Influenza B got to the urgent care soon enough and now has Tamiflu so yay!

Yep, it is Sunday!

And Im up and on fire to simply “get things done.”

TIRED of it all, I really am!

There are buy buttons to make and sales pages to prove and ….

Let’s just say, I’m going to get it done.

But thought police?

Incredible.

They really exist.

I had posted the question, Are you worried about the virus outbreak in China?

One person had asked for clarification  on “Can someone please explain why the coronavirus’ incubation period of 4 to 17 days is considered a dangerous factor in how fast it might (will?) spread?”

So I wrote (assuming that everyone knows that a.)  I’m a US citizen married to a Chinese husband and that b.)  the only people I can affect *today* are my friends and family (who would actually listen to me.

I wrote:

“The reason why this is so ungood – I believe the viral outbreak happened in towards the end of December.

It was not globally reported for at least 2 weeks.

Wuhan (where the outbreak first happened) is apparently a center of commerce:

“…Two of China’s major rivers—the Yangtze and Han—flow through the city, making it one of China’s oldest and most important centers of commerce. 

It is also a hub in China’s vast high-speed railway system, which carries millions of passengers daily. In other words, the latest outbreak has not struck some remote outpost, as has been the case with other epidemics, including Ebola in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, but has arisen in a central hub in a country that is, itself, at the center of international trade and travel….”

China put the infected cities on lockdown only recently, I believe.

Now, do the math.

Laws of probability.

How many US citizens *might* have been in the cities of the outbreak before the Western Winter holidays, become infected and returned…

And have yet to show signs?”

And the response?

“”How many US citizens *might* have been in the cities of the outbreak”

IDK and honestly I dont care for this narrowly stated view of the world.

We should be concerned about ANYONE getting sick”

No thank you for explaining it.

Just this person “taking me to task” because of my “narrowly stated view of the world.”

The conversation continued with  this person saying this gem:

“Let me explain: imagine you’re in Holland or Hungary and are watching CNN International (note I said CNN *INTERNATIONAL* and not the CNN stuff shown inside the US). You tune in and someone comes on describing the coronavirus crisis, and they focus on how it affects US citizens, only mentioning in passing citizens of china, and not at all citizens of European nations. And I even made the same mistake, by forgetting to mention Africa, in my comment that *you* reacted to.

What would such a person think of the reporting? That the US only cares about something that affects the US, and not chinese people or Europeans.”

My response?

“Ummm, hello?

I assume that anyone reading Barb Ling’s post would realize that Barb Ling a.) is either Asian or married TO an Asian due to the last name, hence by default Barb LING would care about Asian individuals and b.)

Barb Ling is NOT reporting for CNN International, has never *claimed* to be a reporter, and assumes her audience *knows* she is an Internet marketer based in the USA .

You know, a few days ago, I said I’d stop sharing satire because people couldn’t separate fact from fiction.

But this? Im posting about something that is happening in China and because my family is in the USA, I state my country in my posting.

And you have the gall to imply my words should be regarded with the same inspection of a trained reporter from CNN International? 

That I’m somehow “wrong” to focus first on my country and those whom I can impact?

I think this is the very first time I’ve been taken to task for “wrong thought/wrong speak.” 

Unbelievable.

This has certainly been eyeopening for me.”

The above is one reason why there is such division in the USA.

People go out of their way to take offense and things out of context.

Sigh.

Anywhos, yesterday I made sure to:

  • Get masks for my family if needed (respirator n99 – you can find them on Amazon)
  • Research the English reporting sites

My Chinese husband made sure to get the word out to his extended family in China.

And that’s what we can do *now*.
