But first:

This weekend is a time of great joy and happiness for millions of people worldwide, right?
Generally, right!
If you are having the time of your life, that is most glorious indeed and should be celebrated with copious amounts of your favorite beverage.
However, millions of other people are approaching this time having suffered:
* The loss of a loved one
* The smooshing of a relationship
* The betrayal by a friend
* The loss of a job
* The (fill in with a negative action) of,by a (fill in with something once treasured)
etc.etc.etc.
Thus, I present you with the following challenge.
If you are one of the happy peeps, yay! Take some time to proactively reach out to someone you know who is smooshilated or ickified or beating themselves up or… you know what I mean…
… and do NOT wish them a Happy Holiday, instead, let them know you’re thinking of them.
Perhaps follow up with something you value about them.
That is all. It’s not too much effort. A simple “Hey there, thinking about you, thank you so much for being my friend this past year!”
You simply cannot underestimate the sheer positive emotions such goodwill will generate.
And having done so, you’ll have contributed to the joy and happiness of the holiday season.
When you’re done reading this, think back to what you’ve seen during the past few days/weeks/etc. and who stands out for having experienced the opposite of laughter and glee.
And then simply send the above message to them.
It will take you less than a minute…. but the benefits could mean the difference between someone being sunk in despair this holiday weekend… and someone who chooses to pull themselves up and *out.*
In closing, Happy Holidays to all – you are truly magnificent and provide rays of sunshine nobody else could duplicate quite like you.

You MIGHT be making some rather blatant eMail marketing mistakes that would crush a 747 Jumbo Jet….
…. but you’re completely unaware of that delightfully frightful fact.

Makes sense, right? I mean, if folks signed up to your list, IDEALLY you have a clue as to what they want to see. If you’re a marketer, you’ll send marketing goodies as promos (and ideally have your own morning newsletter so your fanbase can see you as a human bean as well as a marketer. I’ve been doing that now since 2012… and it works grand like so:

* Share pix of the awesome breakfast I made for my 4 kids

Merry Christmas to all who celebrate!
Note to self – it helps pressing START to actually START the oven pre-heating.
But no matter. I slept super-late (5:30am!) and started baking the holiday cookies (yes! I AM capable of buying pre-made cookie dough and making cookies!).
I also started water boiling in which I put:
- Clove essential oils
- Cinnamon essential oils
I would have used Orange essential oil as well, but I ran out of that (and no, I do NOT do MLM Essential oil – I’ve been doing aromatherapy now since 1993. I buy them at:
Excellent prices, superb quality, and yep – good stuff!
But I digress.
No orange, so I cut up some orange peel and put that into the boiling water.
So! My secular house is packed with the scent of chocolate chip cookies baking, cloves, cinnamon, oranges and the like….
It will be nice for the family to wake up to it.
Now, speaking of the holidays…
Remember. Not everyone has a great family experience to anticipate… and if you’re one of those folk, I present to you: This!
I’m seeing lots of folks posting about how not everyone is looking forward to the holidays and how one should support these folks.
100% agree.
The next question, though, is HOW you can support these folks.
Some ways include:
1.) Invite them over during the holidays.
2.) Invite them out during the holidays.
3.) Post inspirational memes on your FB wall about inner strength and personal growth (sometimes a very subtle approach is required, but if you know your friend follows you/reads what you share, it can make a positive impact).
4.) Engage in conversation via chat – tell them you’re thinking about them, wish them well, and then (any convo you think they might enjoy).
What if folks are lonely and you’re an introvert who doesn’t do well with people?
5.) Write a post about how to lift OTHER people’s spirits (sometimes doing good for others makes people think, we’ll I’m still in a lousy situation but I did brighten the life for others!). aka, visit a local hopsital, nursing home, shelter, SPCA, etc., write cards, bring goodies for pets, etc.etc.etc.
6.) Go to your local newspaper section and see what activities your town is offering. Create a post about that on your FB wall so local peoples will see it.
What if *you’re* the lonely person and don’t give a damn about anyone else because life is so bleak?
7.) Write a love letter to the person you want to become. ie, express how miserable your life is on paper, and then write how different it would be if XYZ etc.etc.etc.etc. happens. You’ll get out a lot of your anger/frustration/hopes/dreams and such things can often lead to a feeling of temporary peace.
8.) Give yourself permission to *grieve*. Life CAN suck, you know… and it’s so important to acknowledge one’s own inner pain and sadness. As a matter of fact, have a personal grieving party- order your fav comfort foods, get your fav movies, and plop yourself in front of the TV/computer and indulge in a massive pity party. Again – you’re honoring the very very very REAL pain you might be experiencing (even if others say, jeepers, there’s millions of folks worse than you, buck up and stop being a tweeblehead! Decaf coffee to them I say. This is a time for you to take care of YOU).
What if you’ve lost someone dear to you?
9.) Write them a letter. Express how much you miss them. Honor the good times and if it comforts you, believe they are a guardian angel now for you while you’re still on earth.
10). Reach out to others who have lost the same person… perhaps get together to honor their memory once more.

Your takeaway?
It’s always better to be above ground than not, even when you feel utterly miserable (and yep – loss, toxic families, etc. can really smooshilate the holidays for anyone).
You do NOT have to be the victim of feeling icky and not doing anything.
You can take steps to address and honor what hurts you and turn it into something supportive for the future…
… lift the spirits for others…
… kick fate in the right direction….
And make 2018 *shine*.

NOT, I might mention, at 1am… however…..
Yesterday, my 2 eldest were taking the train back from Baltimore to NJ…. and arrival time was supposed to be 1am today.
So! Brilliant mom that I am, I took a nap in the afternoon so I could bounce awake at a moments notice!
Brilliant kids they were, they simply took a Lyft to the house.
So I was up from… hmmmmm… 9pm until, well, I think I simply dozed all early morning until getting up at 5am.
Should be an interesting day indeed!
First thing I did, breakfast for the family:
4 kids home, 4 individual breakfasts (one kid doesn’t tolerate eggs well, one kid prefers sausages and eggs to be separated, one kid likes cheese, and one kid is like me, and likes everything).
I have time to spare today before gym, so why not? Husband got a special breakfast soup as well. 🙂
