Where was I?
Ah yes, Tuesday!
But first: I wrote this yesterday!
It’s the LAST day of 2018!
And what will YOU do today that will make a difference for your 2019 health, happiness and bottom line?
There’s bunches of thingees you can do…
Here’s what I’m doing!
1.) I’m making my last big purchase today so I can claim it on my 2018 business expenses.

2.) I’m forgiving myself for things I didn’t achieve. Sure, goals are grand. But beating yourself up because of not reaching them is counter-productive. Instead, I’m figuring out where I went wrong (that’s easy in my case – nonoptimal health, kinda difficult to fix but hey. It’s there) and how I can cope with it (restructuring work and the like) etc.
3.) I’m giving myself permission to take back my power. So many times people let other folks’ opinions of them *matter too darned much.* To heck with folks who are not living my life as I want to live my life – they aren’t the ones who have to live the with results. I am. And they will be MY results that I want.
Nobody else’s.
4.) I’m internalizing that the youth of today is NOT the youth of *my* day. In other words – kids these days have the same right that I did when I was their age – that of making their own choice and experiencing the consequences.
I am reminded of my eldest’ comment to me back 2 years ago at the last year of Uconn – I was told “Mom, you know something? You were right about everything all these past years. I didn’t listen because I needed to try things myself and learn from the results.”
Side note – I am *incredibly* proud of all my 4 kids. All of them are walking their own hero’s journeys and it is a privilege for me to witness.
5.) I am internalizing that it’s not just my spouse… it’s me as well. We’re both growing older and we’re both having challenges in the memory department. Plus, we both handle things starkly differently (he is a Vulcan and 140% logical, I am an empath and …. am a weeeee bit more emotional). For some reason that’s become a bit more of an issue (after 25 years of marriage) but recognizing it and dealing with it … well, that’s good.
6.) Business-wise, I have the very best partner on the entire planet, so I am thanking my lucky stars for that. Plus, restructuring my product templates so product creation is just as easy in the future BUT… is more applicable to 2019.
In closing…
My own personal 2019 success is 140% dependent upon *me*.
Nobody else.
As is yours.

I confess – we were all tired and were asleep by 9pm.
I did wake up at 12:08am to find that yep, the new Ear came without me… will have to watch the TV footage of that.
AND! There was the latest Steven Universe episode that I could SO SO SO SO SO SO relate to – Steven wanted to create a party of magnificence and in the end, everything went more wrong than a moose figure skating. Heartbreaking it was but can’t wait for the latest!
And! I got to the gym (yay!) and ideally will do so again.

Yesterday was quite the adventure – took our 2 youngest plus the visiting student out for Chinese hot pot.
It ended up bring really good – afterwards, we showed the visiting student the local University (as he’ll be going to his school on Friday).
Oh! And I finally got to the gym (yay!). Been long enough… and the weight has crept back up. Not happy about that. After all the kids finally go back to school, I need to focus more on health – I’ve gotten to the point I can’t even really walk well, you know?
So… back to the drawing board there.
And today for bunches of folk, it’s New Ears Eve! Lots will be partying and staying up and I will simply be… working.

Consider:
“Hack #3: 2-step checkouts beat one step
From my experience, I am usually able to get a 9 to 11% lift by making my checkout pages 2 steps.
Whether it is an e-commerce site or a B2B lead generation site, 2 steps typically beat out 1 step.
It’s counter-intuitive but once someone gives you their name and email, they are more likely to give you the rest of their information because they’ve already started the process. You can also email everyone who didn’t complete the registration process and convert some of those people.
If you have a strong brand like Nike or Amazon, this doesn’t matter as much. But if you don’t, which is more likely your case, use a 2-step checkout page. Whether it is a lead generation page or an e-commerce checkout page, use a 2-step.”
Yep – if you’ve actually gone the distance to enter your contact info… chances are, you more committed to buying.

If a lot of your traffic is generating from your blog, the easiest way to boost your rankings is by getting a better click-through-rate than all of the other listings.
Adding the year in your title tag lets people know your content is up to date and relevant and typically it helps get more clicks than anything else.
For example, the title “The Complete List of SEO Tools (Updated in 2018)” would do better than “The Complete List of SEO Tools”.
Another example that worked well was, “How to Start a Blog in 2019.” That generated way more clicks as people want to know how to start a blog in today’s competitive environment.
On the flip side, if you add a year to your title tag and your content is old and outdated, you will get a lot of bounce backs, which means your rankings will go down. So be careful when using this hack.”

Up late I am!
Yesterday was quite good – the husband and I took the foreign student to the Edison Factory in West Orange but alas, due to government shutdown, it was closed. 🙁
Still though, was able to go to a truly grand Korean Sushi place (yep that’s what it is) where the miso soup is amazingly fantastic.
Came home, and everyone (including me) went to sleep.
After waking up, I took my youngest to the gym (my youngest is really into health these days!) and 45 minutes later, was done.
Today, we’ll either be visiting Kid3 at college or going to a local town by the river for sight seeing.

It’s Saturday!
Well no.
It’s still Friday at 7:45pm or so.
As I earlier mentioned, we’re hosting a foreign student for a bit… so we took him for Hibatchi (onion volcano!) and then a bit around the town. The husband made sure to help him get his financials straightened up (helped him open a new bank account) and tonight, will probably take him to see some of the Christmas displays as well (ideally by that time, I’ll be asleep. 🙂 ).
AND guess what!!
I *finally* got my 2 eldest kids to start watching Star Trek Discovery and they are SO enjoying it SO much! Generally they watch it at 10pm their time and text me their real-time reactions – now, they’re watching it as I type up this newsletter, so I cannot wait for their reaction at the close of Episode 11 (one of the best ever!).
It’s really grand to share such good times with family, when you can!
And that reminds me too… you know how you cannot choose your family members?
Love’em or hate ’em, you’re generally stuck with ’em, right?
Thing is, sometimes…. families aren’t made by blood, but by love. So as you grow older, you can find replacements for those who let you down… and who can help you gain a better understanding of your own true value and worth.
Just had a convo with a friend whose mom was the living embodiment of Godzilla with massive PMS on a good day but is learning how to heal himself.
