Where was I? Ah yes, Tuesday!
Well.
Yesterday was a day of me swallowing my pride… big time.
See, I had gone to other dealerships to see if I could get a better price for a new car….
But it turned out, the cost of shipping my current car across country….
… wiped out any additional savings.
So! I returned to the first dealership:
And after much discussion…. (I first admitted I should have done my research FIRST)…
The new car (a Dodge Grand Caravan MooseMobile) was secured and my other car will be on its way out to the college kids (the dealership is paying for that transportation).
Your takeaway?
It’s okay if you are wrong. It’s good manners to admit that as well.

Extremely superb Moms Day for me.
First, the boys put together a much-needed office chair (all together now – yay)!
And my girls made me this from across the country:
(Side note – I am ADORING the latest (and last!) season of Samurai Jack (notice how the girls put my glasses on him). Highly recommended!).
And I’m just about done with the latest from me and Dennis Becker:
Ideally that should all go live tomorrow.
What else? Yesterday the husband took me to the Red Oak Inn for breakfast, where moms ate free and also received a rose. We knew of another mom who would deserve a rose as well, so made this road trip! I mean, rose trip!

First, let’s talk Moms Day!
Happy Mom’s Day for you if you/yours celebrate it….
BUT if you have a toxic mom, it’s ok NOT to feel happy joy joy.
I wrote about Toxic Moms this morning:
“Something about Moms Day and dealing with toxic Moms….
When I was growing up, one never missed Mothers Day.
Nor Mom’s birdieDay (which is why Honorable Son 1 was born one day before my birthday – I figured that by the time I was in my 80s, I’d want my own darned day to myself. So even though he was due on my birthday… he arrived one day sooner. But I digress).
Mom never really liked flowers on Mothers Day (but weird plants were appreciated. I remember one day my brother gave her a bulb-like unitentifiable “thing” – 40 years later its still growing in my home). Creative gifts were always liked.
Now that I’m a mom, I realize that what *I* want… is peace, harmony and laughter in my home. And all 4 kids totally delivered on that – lots of good communications, good times and great resting (my eldest took all the kids to the mall, leaving us with peace and quiet!).
Due to exams, Mothers Day will be officially giftizing next weekend (although Honorable Son II made me a Star Wars Lego video which was sooo adorable).
But one of the highlights today…. a prior disagreement was ironed out by the kids (and it required a lot of maturity on both their parts). So proud I am of them; it made this Mothers Day the best ever.
I am *hugely* lucky to have this kind of relationship/Moms Day!
That being said…
There are some folk out there who have toxic moms.
Some folk who have been raised to always doubt themselves…
… and to those people I say:
It’s not you.
It’s never *been* you.
Being a mom, alas, never automatically gifts women with wisdom and sanity….
… some women simply never were cut out to be moms.
But they still have kids….
… and those kids suffer from the lack of compassion and empathy a toxic parent emits.
So if you simply cannot wish your Mom a Happy Mother’s Day because of the toxicity…
That’s *okay.*
We all do the very best we can but yep… sometimes the collateral damage feels just too great.
Sane mom or no might you have… we are all worthy of appreciation and love.
Do your best to pass on that love and appreciation whever you can…
