See, the thing is…
Soup.
Whenever there is a big huge storm forecasted, the husband and I always go to the local Chinese grocery store to get beef bones…
… and then on the day of said storm, I make soup from it.
You have to boil up the bones for about 3 hours or so – the resulting broth is very delicate and lends itself well as a guaranteed “warm you up from the inside” meal. I’ll probably post pictures of it later one.
In other Lingland news, here close by the Jersey shore, the snowfall is not much… the news agencies are saying north will see 12+ inches and more. 🙁

Thing is…
Youth is wasted on the young.
On Sunday, the husband and I drove to see our youngest perform in the 3 Penny Opera:
It was truly wonderful to see how much he’s come out of his shell and can command a stage performance.
That was the good news.
The bad news was we returned home after 11:30pm, I ended staying up until 4am for whatever reason, and come Monday…. I was a weee bit…. smooshed.
It reminded me so much of how youth is wasted on the young.
So, no newsletter, no gym….
Just me working from my laptop in bed.
And as you can tell, I’m a bit late today as well.
These things happen.
Ideally, I will get to the gym with the husband and continue working on my latest.
Plus, remember this?

Which is really really sad.

And for a very good reason indeed. The stuff IS premium. And you DO get all of his training included as well.
And yet… there will still be people who decry it.
Baffling. Truly baffling.
And! I wrote this yesterday:
It seems this week is particularly character-building for many friends.
And yep… while walking thru the fire is hell personified, the person you will transform into will be far stronger, more compassionate…. better able to not only survive these days and beyond, but also thrive.
‘Course, when you’re in the middle of just surviving… it’s almost impossible to remember that.
And yes. Words are easy to say, but sometimes life is more difficult to bear than carrying the Hoover Dam on your back while dashing up Mt. Everest.
So what to do?
For me, whenever I go thru times that make me yearn for the comparative ease of a 48 hour childbirth labor, I always try to remember that the only time I will ever be out of options….
… is the day the sun doesn’t rise for me.

When times are massively horrendous, and all seems lost…
Don’t rely upon others to believe in you first…
==> Instead, give *yourself* permission to believe in you.
That could be the first for your healing… and then your surviving *and* thriving after whatever challenges are now staring at you at point blank range.
I believe in you. But more importantly…. give yourself permission to believe in you. And keep us all posted as well.

Yep, my youngest will be performing in it.
So cool to see… this is the kid who had zero self confidence several years ago, and now is the lead.
How time changes!
Hopefully will get to the gym as well today too, yesterday… I took it slightly easy.

Yesterday, I had asked the question if you knew Arun Chandran and if he knew you. And I closed by writing about, “The Plot Thickens”.
And here’s *my* story.
I first met Arun online after I was quite the, well, tweeblehead.
Arun had just come into the IM scene, and wanted to let me know about his launch.
As I generally get dozens of requests from strangers to promote their materials, I confess….
I ignored it.
And he sent a 2nd message.
Which I ignored as well.
The 3rd message got my attention, I finally responded, saw the tremendous quality he provided… and then apologized profusely for my rudeness.
And that’s how I met Arun, but why the creative writing of yesterday (besides the fact the Nor’easter reminded me of Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz)?
Well, my motto is, it doesn’t matter how ridiculous you might come off IF you get the desired response… which was for y’all to read this.
Like I had mentioned before, Arun had helped out a colleague in our industry.
Such things are truly grand to see!
Now, let me veer off in a slightly different direction.
Ever see colleagues post on their wall the fact they’re depressed, or anxious, or feeling alone and that nobody cares?
Well, the fact is…
Bunches of us *do* care.
And there is a huge chance that IF… If you DO reach out and ask for help…
… or to vent….
… or to simply say, “Hey! I don’t know what to do for XYZ…. any ideas?”
… lots of people will answer you positively and help out.
Of course, a challenge for new grey hairs will then erupt….
What about if you are afraid of looking weak or sad or foolish?
I totally get that. Which is another reason why I tried writing as outrageously as possible yesterday…. heck, I have a huge ego and I *know* people probably thought to themselves, errrr, hello Barb? What are you writing about?
I love walking the walk I talk…. so…. I decided that coming across as slightly (ok 37457 times) bizarre would be worth it if it got people reading/sharing this particular message.
Effective, wasn’t it? 
But I digress.
Anywhos!
Sometimes it seems in this day and age, people focus on the surface/gossipy/idjutlike/etc. happenings instead of, well, kindness.
And other times, it seems like folks will witness others being a jerk, but be afraid to call them out on it.
Permit me to share a somewhat different plan of action?
If you see unjustness in our industry, online or what have you…
… each out to those people and say, “Hey! I saw what you posted… be you okay? Anything I can do to help?”
That’s all.
And if the person responds, Hey YOU, go jump in a cup of coffee and leave me alone… well, that’s okay.
Just because you *offer* the gift of your attention, does NOT mean the person needs to appreciate it. It could be, they’re not ready to yet, or they feel embarrassed, or what have you…
But you know something?
That’s okay too!
Just by your action of figuratively raising your hand and saying, I am here….
… you never know how much you might inspire that person in the future.
And perhaps later on, they will approach you and thank you for that first “First contact.”
Later on that is, when things get better.
Powerful stuff!
So, what’s your takeaway from all of this?
It’s:
1.) Even if you work by yourself, and feel totally lonely and insignificant etc., chances are, if you reach out your hand, someone will take it.

2.) It’s okay to feel depressed/anxious/and the like. And contrary to what some folk want you to believe, it IS okay to see a doctor for anti-anxiety/depression/etc. meds and the like. You do what you need to do and do not let ANYONE make you feel less of a person because of it.

Even if you’re not capable of believing it now, the world is infinitely brighter because you are in it!
