Thing is:
Parental insanity.
So!
Continuing my story with Kid #3….
Kid is off-the-charts genius. Takes after my husband.
And like my husband, kid has a weeee bit of stubbornness.
And of course, I am in the middle.
I understand from where *both* people, Kid #3 and Husband.
And it’s my challenge to help bridge the gap.
Right after that excitement happened, Kid #4 called… and reminded me that I had promised his best friend I would pay for both of them to see the Star Wars movie “Solo.” That led to talks about budgeting, which led to Kid #4 reminding me in precise detail that:
A.) I had promised
and
B.) see A.
Now, I had finally trained myself NEVER to promise ANYTHING to ANY kid, but for some reason….
Forgot that in this particular case.
Okay, true, it’s Star Wars, and that makes ALL the difference…..
In the past, I’d take Kid #4 to all Star Wars releases for the midnight showings.
And I wanted him to enjoy it with his best friend.

Continuing my story with Kid #3….
Back when my eldest started college, the kid went thru some character-building times (anxiety and the like).
And no matter what I would say/counsel, it didn’t make a weeeee bit ‘o difference.
So I gave up on verbal communication…
And started writing *stories*.
Now, these stories would always involve the kid as a main character, but in a different form:
- A video game character
- A cloud in the skill
- A cotton ball
- A dragon who couldn’t breathe fire
and the like.
Well, it looks like I will be doing the same for Kid #3 (wrote the first story yesterday)…
We’ll see how that goes.

Do you remember the long-ago thrills of Pokemon Go?
Almost 2 years ago, that mobile game took over our planet, more or less….
And resulted in several products being created about it as well!
It operated via “Augmented Reality”… ie, the game overlaid popular Pokemon characters over real-life maps.
Well, AR has been constantly under development since then!
Which most likely is why FB now feel comfortable introducing it into his FB Messenger:
To wit:
“…Facebook will soon let businesses create branded augmented reality (AR) experiences for their customers to access through their cameras in Messenger.
The company announced this feature in closed beta and said it will let “people get valuable, instant feedback about purchases, customizations, and more, without ever needing to set foot in a store. Okay, still Sunday, as I will probably sleep late… and I did want to make sure this newsletter got out!!
Thing is:
Love.
Like I mentioned yesterday, the husband and I dropped off the kid for kid’s summer college time.
And you know… sometimes it really IS tough for parents/kids to communicate effectively.
Kid’s phone battery died… so it was several hours before kid was able to text me that he arrived safely.
During that time, I chatted with kid’s best friend (who suggested that perhaps the battery died). Amazing what I never would have considered!
And the point here?
Never be afraid to *really* communicate… even if it means dropping your own ego.
In other news…. let’s see. Oh yes, I saw Deadpool 2! It was just plain *silly* (in an R rated kind of way) but yep….
Silly!
Love me some silly every now and then.
And then at around 11pm, my youngest called me with roommate issues… wheee!
Today I want to get ‘way back into the swing of things… gym, work, and stuff like that.
And that’s all….
