It’s Tuesday!
Yep definitely Tuesday.
Yesterday was…. odd.
We’re trying to prepare for Kid4’s return to school….
… and it turns out that that will happen on the same day as Large Item Dropoff.
So there’s a weeee bit o stress from planning it all.
And then the Kingly Moose’s hind legs….
Well, they gave out again.
Remember how they went bad last December and it was touch and go a bit?
He recovered but yesterday, Kid3 decided to walk the other moose. It excited the Kingly Moose sooo much he started barking and spinning like a pup….
But as he’s NOT a pup, after the other kid took him for a walk, his legs collapsed boom.
Finally got him home and then the kids brushed him:
This morning he was able to go up/own on his own!
So yay.

It’s Monday!
Actually it’s still Sunday around 9pm.
A most excellent day today was!
Even though no official gym, I did manage to hobble my way around the house a few times (go me!).
Then we took the boys out for Thai lunch (really superb place called 4 Seasons Thai. If you ask for food ‘spicy’ – they over-deliver!!) and then returned home.
I did some grand work on my latest (more on that later on), had great talks with the kids… and wrote this.
“Feeling less optimal than a moose without a backscratcher?
Want some coping mechanisms?
One thing you can do is share things that make *other* folks feel happy. That way you can tell yourself, I’m a hopeless lump of animated flesh but hey. I made someone *else* smile. And that’s a really good thing to do.
Another thing you can do when you have good times with your family – take the time to say, you know, I really just enjoyed our time now!
Still another thing you can do is proactively look on in your FB stream for folks who have shared that things are character-building in the extreme. Reach out and say, hey, sorry you’re dealing with that all – here, have a coffee!
Or a carrot cake.
Or even several dozen boxes of Nerds candy.
You know, stuff like that.
The thing is…
If you are in grand health right now, or things are going terrific, or otherwise life is a bunch of frolicking rainbow unicorns…. *right now*….
That does NOT mean that life could NOT change in the blink of an eye. That’s a double negative, btw. So I’m pretty sure I’m communicating what I want to.
You might end up gazing upon a reality that you refused to acknowledge in the past… blaze straight up, 6 inches in front of your nose, and kick you in the teeth in the present.
You or the ones you love, might end up grievously hurt in a car accident.
A low-flying asteroid might demolish your home.
And so on, and so on.
The point I’m trying to make is 10 years ago, back when I was the Fab Fit Mom, I myself was *hugely* ignorant.
Well okay, that’s not REALLY the point I’m trying to make, but stay with me here… it’s a grand story.
I was ignorant about how while some things MIGHT have been not god-awful difficult for me to achieve…
… *me* is not the definitive world population.
And also, while other things I chose to handle in ways nobody would applaud today…
… said ways *worked* for me back then.
And yes, that is a Photoshop of my 180+ pound body in front of a generic playground.
But I digress.
The vast majority of stuff you see on FB/Instagram/etc….
… those are the *highlight* reels of people’s lives.
They do NOT show the lowlights.
They do NOT show the uncountable times the person cried themselves to sleep.
They do NOT show the unbearable sorrow of parents with special needs kids who do NOT know how to help those kids achieve their own personal greatness.
Not because they didn’t want to…
But because they didn’t *know how to*. (side note – I’m a member of one of the most incredible group of Moms in this galaxy and what I’ve seen other parents achieve… I personally don’t think I would ever be able to. I so admire those moms… they are the kind of folk who make the world a brighter place).
Yep, I digressed again.
Anywhos!
What’s your takeaway?
So glad you asked!
1.) Your feelings are valid. However, they do not give you the right to hurt others.
2.) If nobody validates your feelings, all is NOT lost. Validate them *yourself* from within your own heart and soul. Try to *decrease* the need for validation from *outside* yourself (painfully difficult, I realize)
3.) Mental illness is NOT a stigma. Just like physical issues, there are ways to help cope and heal mental issues. I remember my mom used to call me (let’s see how I can write this without writing it) “Emotionally (the R word)”. She didn’t mean it in a derogatory sense either… and I never viewed it that way. I was hugely delayed when it came to EQ (emotional quotient). Massively delayed. However, I eventually caught up, several centuries later.
4.) In the *vast* majority of cases, your parents didn’t deliberately set out to screw you up (I am not including narcissistic parents, psycho parents etc.). Almost certainly, your folks didn’t wake up one morning and say, Jeepers! Let’s mess up the kids today!
Your parents (again ignoring the cases in which this is obviously not true for your experiences) did the *best* they could.
The fact that their best would:
* register lower hit points than a Pokemon Shedinja
* be more worthless than a Sparks card in Yugioh
* Cause angst along the lines of you selling your 1637 ANTIQUE MANUSCRIPT CHARTER OF NEW-ENGLAND Patriotic ALS Colonial Americana, that alas was discovered by your precious Blue and Gold Macaw named ‘Nibbles’ and reduced into confetti worthy of New Years Eve, right AFTER you sold it for almost 1 million dollars or…..
You get the idea. 
What else?
5.) Never close yourself off to different ideas. Stop with the ‘libtards’ or ‘cuckeratives’ or (geez what are modern insults these days? Hang on, I will ask my kids. (2 minutes later) Well let’s research them instead, shall we? I will share those later). Ditch the insults and open your mind. Sure, if you don’t like what’s being said, close your mind to it right afterwards!
But it’s when we *start* listening to each other that we can tentatively begin *understanding* each other.
And THEN a whole world of opportunities open.
6.) Do NOT think you’re the be all and end all of what is right and what is wrong.
Fact is… you’re not.
You have your opinions.
Yay!
That’s grand. That’s your right.
Other people have THEIR opinions.
Also grand, also right.
Cue the sound of Epic Battle Music Resolution! (aka Pacific Rim theme. )
In closing – cherish those you love, even if you have massive disagreements at times, and really folk…
And….
Don’t sweat the small stuff.
The vast majority of life IS the small stuff.
Treat others as you would prefer to be treated…
… Do NOT let anyone diminish your shine….
And spend time sharing/spreading goodness instead of negatives or hate.
