Talk about INSANITY.
SO many things happened….
First off, remember those hammies I had mentioned I would be rescuing?
Life… ahem… happened….
So life saw me zooming 40 miles south at 8am or so to pick them up!
AND – I got 1 street away from the home and what did I see?
A fence!
A FREAKIN’ FENCE!
Blocking access to the road!
I had used Apple GPS….
… and apparently the house was now in a (I hope you’re sitting down) gated community….
So I had to drive 350 degrees (aka almost a full circle) to find the entrance.
ARGH!!!
Sigh.
Got home, and then the husband had an insane desire to IKEAize!
And what did we see?
And my husband!
Admit it…
The Lings are synonymous with romance!

And then I got back home…
NO time for gym (wah!)
… because marketing!
Which alas….
Is not yet alive.
But speaking of that…

Yet again…. Another big huge ME day…. BUT! I DID get bunches of work done as well (yay!)
Got to Planet Fitness at 7am for weight lifting…. and then swimming at 10am… and biking at 2pm….
And made the most magnificent MamaBear Burgers for the family:
(seasoned with soy sauce, Mediterranean mix, onions, and topped with roasted red peppers and sweet onions) …. not to be confused with MamaBear Pasta or MamaBear Salad. 🙂

My final take for yesterday?
“Talk about an insane day. One of my business end goals… not achieved.
And thats the one that has been haunting me for 2 weeks. Still, though, there is tomorrow (as I have been saying for the past 14 days).
Other business goals – turned on a dime and made things happen (woot!). So yay there.
Health goals – 3 times at the gym today – morning weight lifting, late morning swimming and afternoon biking. Definite success!
Made a fantastic dinner for the family.
And tomorrow will be another day to restart once more.
Your takeaway? Everything in its own time. And whenever possible… put yourself *first*.

Another big huge ME day.
I played hookie and saw Beauty and the Beast:
I greatly enjoyed it but I will admit…
… I much prefer the 1991 animation.
Go figure.
And also yesterday, I waxed most philosophic both as a marketer:
“Pro marketing tip.
Templates make life ‘way easier.
Here’s a thought… what if you could come up with a quick/easy cheatsheet idea… template the sales letter…. template the buy button placeholders…. and every few days release a building block for marketing success?
ie, instead of one problem/one solution… one *building block* customers can combine with other building blocks so they can custom-create their own end solution?
And what if instead the building block you create is infused not only with how-to knowledge… but wrapped up in infotainment that can be replayed again and again?
Your take-away? View yourself not only as a product creator but also as an *artist*… your canvas is the knowledge you bring to the table, and your art is how you transform that knowledge into something that *stays* with the customer, long after the retail high has dissipated.”…
and also as a parent:
=-=-= You’re not your kid’s friend. You’re far superior. =-=-=
One big huge challenge parents have… is NOT to act like their kid’s friend.
Sure it’s tempting…. you want to make them happy, you want to protect them… and all that jazz.
Thing is, nobody can be there for your kids like you….
None of their IRL friends.
None of their virtual friends….
…because *your* goal is your kids survive their childhood and become a stable functioning content member of society.
You need to set boundaries, and if your kid rails at you regarding that…
*Tough*.
You’re not their friend… you’re far superior.
You’re their parent. The one constant they should always be able to count upon… no matter what.
And if they say they hate you, that be fine and peachy. Your job is NOT to *make* them happy… it’s to teach them to find their personal happiness from *within*.
It can be quite the difficult path to walk at times, let me tell you that!
But with that being said….
… when your kids *do* level up, make sure you praise them for that growth.
I’ve heard that telling kids they’ve done well is simply weakening them… because they should not require *any* validation as they grow.
I can see the wisdom of that, too. Toughening up your kids for the future will ensure that no matter what life throws at them, they can rebound on their own….
… however, I also think validating their achievements/showing your pride in them… gives them the strength and self-confidence to *continue* to evolve.
I always ask myself, if I’m hit by a low-flying asteroid, how will my kids handle the next day? My spouse? All the folks in my current environment?
You do your children great disservice if you fail to teach them independence.
This morning, HS2 encountered an opportunity to *totally* lose his cool. And I watched the rapid play of emotions over his face, and was able to pinpoint *exactly* when he *chose* to take control of himself and *not* figuratively throw himself off the cliff.
SO cool to witness!!
Afterwards, I made certain to debrief with him the entire situation… and emphasized how proud I was of his growing maturity.
Your takeaway? You don’t have to be 0 or 1, utterly nothing or deafening over-reaction, stark Spartan or helicopter parent….
You DO have to be a dependable star in your kids’ galaxy… the shining security they know will always be there (unless you’re hit by a low-flying asteroid, of course).
You DO have to set boundaries… and you DO have to ensure they know you *believe* in them, always and forever.
In other words, you DO have to be their parent. Not their friend.
Someone superior.
Their parent.
Quite proud of all my kids these days. Many hero journeys they are currently on… and facing rather grandly indeed.”
