Imagine the following. Having made your millions and are now enjoying the dotcom lifestyle, you decide to invite Tim and Nina Zagat over to impress them with your newly acquired gourmet tastes and begin by scouring your thesaurus for overly flowering language you can use to design the gold-encrusted menus and…

Imagine the following – you can afford the Batman’s other vehicle with your penny change, your summer cottage was once owned by Madonna, …. you get the idea.
The critical question now emerges – what should you bring to your child’s preschool picnic?
Why, I think watermelons that cost 25K would be appropriate, don’t you?
To wit:
SAPPORO (Kyodo) A pair of cantaloupes from the bankrupt city of Yubari, Hokkaido, fetched a whopping 2 million yen at the first auction of the season at the Sapporo central wholesale market, the Japan Agricultural Cooperative’s Yubari unit said…..
"Perhaps the city’s designation as a financially rehabilitating entity ironically helped generate an advertising effect," said a spokesperson for the former coal town, which went bankrupt last year. "This will encourage the city a lot."
The two melons were put on display at Marui Imai’s flagship outlet priced at 1 million yen apiece. Yoshikazu Hoshino, 59, a purchasing officer at the department store, said the cantaloupes were more for publicity than profit ….MORE….
Apparently, prior to going bankrupt, the whole town of Yubari centered upon its watermelon cache. Accounting for over 95% of its income, the Yubari melon is a favored gift to give one’s boss or friends or family during the summer. And because it’s an industry that supported the town, farmers cannot sell them directly to consumers; the commerce is strictly regulated.
